How do I track calories burned when lifting?

I just recently started lifting more and using more free weights (as opposed to machines), and I have been looking at heart rate monitors. Do those track accurately for lifting? Or is there another device that would be better for tracking when lifting? I would love to have something that can track calories burned for all my workouts... lifting, 30 Day Shred, cardio. Up to this point, I have just been using whatever MFP shows, and if it seems really high, I subtract 20% and record that number. I typically don't eat back my exercise calories, but I would at least like to know what I'm burning in case I want to. All suggestions appreciated.

I have a Polar HRM with a chest strap. It does a great job during all my workouts. I lift 2 to 3 times a week and cardio 3 to 4 times a week. So, if I run, lift weights, do spin class, etc. it always captures my calories burned, heart rate and burn zone.

I don't log strength training as calories burned. I set my activity level to "works out 3-5 times a week" to cover my lifting sessions, and only log exercise for calories when I get past 5 hours.
It's easier for me that way.
