Hi! My name is Carrie and I am a mom to two year old twin boys. I have been heavy probably since before I married my husband 10 years ago. I was always very active as a child and teenager then I went to college and stopped being so active my sophomore year. When I was younger meals were just something we did but as I got older and with my husband food became our lives. We would and still do go out to eat a lot. His family barely ever cooked. Mine always cooked. I was poor. He was more well off. These past two years were suppose to be the happiest of my life and to be completely honest they have been the hardest in my life. The day after my sons were born (6 weeks early) I lost my mother. She was my only survivng parent. My father died when I was 19. She had been sick since I was 23 but still she was my mother. She was a mom of twins as well. My brother and I. She was going tobe my lifeline to twindom. Then, all of sudden she was gone and I am all alone with two little babies. I did okay with the food while I was breastfeeding but then it was down hill from there. I am the heaviest I have ever been and am trying to stay on an 1800 calorie diet but haven't stuck with it that much because we keep on going away. Hope I can do it.

Hey Carrie! I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your Mother. I am sure you have a busy life with the twins being so little. It looks like you are on the right track if you are on here. I know it is very hard to stay on track. I myself have that problem. I used to beat myself up all the time when i had a bad day and it would go down hill from there. I am trying now to just say that tomorrow is another day and i will do better. The key for me is to track everything i eat. If i can i will even enter something in before i eat it. I find i don't want it so such if it i see how badly it effects my total for the day. Just keep your head up and take it one day at a time! Feel free to friend me and we can support each other on our journey. :flowerforyou:
  • Hi Carrie!! Welcome to MFP!! You are about to experience the change of your life, so hold on and expect a wealth of encouragement and support from this website! • Hi Carrie! Welcome! I just signed up yesterday so I'm a newbie too. I have struggled with weight my entire life. I grew up pretty poor as well and I lived through an abusive parent so I turned to food for my security and safety. Unfortunately, it is still the case so here I am on MFP to change my life for the better!! I recently adopted a 7 year old girl. She has changed my life! I want to have more energy and feel more rested (I actually want to sleep for an entire night and wake up feeling refreshed - that doesnt' happen right now because of my weight). I don't want knee pain and I want the swelling to stop in my legs every day. I even had the lap band surgery in 2006 and it worked for a while but I'm having complications with it and it's quite uncomfortable. I understand it is hard to stay motivated and life DEFINATELY throws us curve balls that seem sooooo overwhelming but we are all here to support one another and WE CAN DO THIS!! WE CAN LOSE THE WEIGHT!! I am super psyched to be a member of MFP and don't hesitate to reach out to this amazing community of people who know how you feel and understand your struggle! You can do it!! We are in this together!!
  • Thank you everyone for your replies. I am going to keep going and take it one day at a time! I am so excited to meet all new people. If I can be any help to you please let me know. Have a great weekend!

    Carrie
