You probably won't lose that much even if you starve yourself, especially because you're not very heavy even now. Half a stone, possibly, but even that is pretty high when you don't have a ton to lose. 1-2 pounds per week is about as aggressive as you'll be able to go even if you drop below your BMR calories and exercise.
If it were me, I'd try to drop my calories to my BMR (which isn't great long-term but will work as a short term solution) and try to do as much strength training as possible. Such low calories won't let you add muscle but if what's there gets tightened up you will at least look smaller even if the scale doesn't show it.
I'm not advocating this as a lifestyle change or a long term diet plan, but as a short-term solution it's probably the best you can do.0 -
If you are currently not a regular exerciser - strength training will do more to reduce your "size" than dieting can in a short time. Strength training can change your measurements big time.0
-
thanks guys... can you remind me how to work on BMR please?
I currently do 2-3 hours of body combat or body attack a week...how many pump sessions should I add for best results in a month you reckon?
yeah, not bothered about long-term, just this event in a month as got a small dress to get into lol! thanks0 -

BMR - basal metabolic rate ..... calories needed if you were in a coma
http://www.fitnessfrog.com/calculators/bmr-calculator.html
TDEE - total daily expenditure .... calories you use based on activity level (including) exercise

Losing weight too quickly will result in more muscle loss than losing weight slowly. Trying to get the muscle back is much harder than trying not to lose it. You can't "build" muscle with a severe deficit..... and some people will argue "any" calorie deficit is too large for building muscle.0 -

I'm guessing OP thought time travel might be available before her big event.0 -
Why not just buy a really great size 12 dress that fits you and makes you feel good? And then rock it. Because I doubt anyone will be checking your tag......0

Spanx!

Ha! You beat me to it!
Definitely shapewear!0 -

I agree with this! Why not just rock what you have?0 -
oh, reason only a month is that found amazing vintage dress I really want to wear but it's too small
actually, I suppose am 10-12 but need to drop a dress size for it to fit properly
also, I really hate dieting, want a quick fix0 -

I hope you're just a troll. Otherwise, sounds like you're bound for great success...

why a troll? because I want to drop a dress size quickly?0

This.
There are no quick fixes. You'll do more harm than good trying to drop so much so quickly. Get a great dress in your size, save the vintage dress for another event.0 -
Surgery or amputation. If you crash diet you'll probably feel like *kitten* for the event and won't enjoy it anyway even if you manage to drop a dress size.0

crash diet -
1) get in crash
2) experience head trauma
3) end up on coma
4) get feeding tube
5) BAM lose weight FAST!0 -

No, because this is a health and fitness site and you're asking for advice to do something that is not healthy and definitely not about fitness.0 -

So, you're going to do a quick fix to fit into a dress. Then, you'll stop "dieting" because you hate it. So, you gain the weight back. What happens next time you want to fit into a dress? You do a quick fix again? That's a fast track to a wrecked metabolism. Why not just learn to eat in moderation, do some exercise and fix the problem permanently, even if it doesn't happen quickly??0 -

Stop it with your common sense and logic. :noway:0 -

Hmmm...
Eat a fulfilling amount of food while exercising a bit each day over the course of a few months
OR
Starve myself and be miserable for an entire month while spending hours a day exercising excessively to fit into a specific dress

It is possible to drop 1 dress size in a month. I lost 26 pounds in month and half, so if i could do it you can too.It depens on how much you want it. I reduced my calorie intake to 1200 a day and did 1 hour of pillates a day and 45 minutes of running every day. I only had 1 day of rest. It is definatelly not a long term thing but it can work for a month or two max.0

How are Spanx, telling you to rock a dress that is actually your size and do it the healthy way for next time, etc. uncivil?0 -
