Vibration plates... Do they work?

So I went on a vibration plate the other day and advertised it says you burn 400 cals and 10 minutes is equivilant to 1hr in the gym! I dont quite believe this :/ can anyone share their experiences with them? Have you lost any weight with them?

I would think vibration plates could be beneficial for a number if things, depending on placement. I wouldn't count weight loss to be among those things though.

There is clinical study showing that LIFTING weights on a vibration plate can increase strength and also the plates assist with rehab. But that doesn't equate to the the 400 calories burned in 10 minute. Think of the "shake belts" they used in the 30's and 40's. Same concept, different era. It's an exaggeration of results all the while fooling people into spending hard earned money.

I tried one of those machines last year during some kind of cookware presentation. It was cool and I could feel where your balance comes into play, but not sure what kind of cardio it would take the place of. It would still depend on your eating habits and calories burned.
