I've just recently started back using mfp, but I started back @ the gym about a month ago, doing at least 45-60 min cardio, and don't see any results. What in the world could be wrong???? Kinda getting discouraged:(

    MOAR INFO NEEDED!

^ Yeah. How many calories are you eating, current weight, goal weight, height, etc.

What results are you looking for or expecting? Are you feeling healthier or stronger? If not, you may need to up intensity. Exercise alone usually doesn't lead to weight loss. From personal experience when I exercise more but don't track food, I also eat more calories than I exercised off.

Sorry, I'm large framed 5'9, my highest ever weight 280, I have my mfp set @ 1500 cal or that is what it gave me after I entered my profile and cardio @ 60 min 3 times a week. i usually do treadmill w/incline @ 8 for 30 min & then stationary bike for 30 min 3-4 days a week. So what am I doing wrong? I did loose about 68lbs a few years ago, but it was the atkins low carb diet, & I think I had more problems after I got off that diet, don't know it it was cause I did it for 6 mo straight, & lost weight so fast or what.

I do have Rheumatoid Arthritis, so I am sorta limited to my movements.

Are you eating back your exercise calories? Even though you put in that you were going to workout 60 minutes 3 times a week those calories are not accounted for within the amount MFP gives you.

Make sure you constantly switch things up. Eat more... exercise more.. exercise less... change the type of exercise you do... the intensity... etc.

Keep an eye on your sodium intake. Up your water intake. Lower the processed, frozen and canned foods you eat.

As someone else said, the activity level you enter when setting up your MFP profile has no actual bearing on the calorie goal they give you.

Are you logging your food honestly and consistently? You can't out exercise a bad diet... 80% of weight loss is about diet. You don't have to eat a perfectly clean diet but you do have to stay within your calorie allotment. Also, it's not a good idea to undereat by too much.

Are you eating back at least half of the calories earned through exercise? If not, start doing that. May find MFP exercise calories are a bit high which is why I would recommend only eating back bout half. The only time I would say it's ok to eat back all of them is if you're using a good quality HRM (like Polar or Garmin) so you know your calorie burns are accurate.

MFP assumes that you're not going to do your exercise...the calorie goal you get is a deficit of calories before any exercise. MFP is a NEAT method calculator (Non Exercise Activity Thermogenesis) so exercise is extra activity that needs to be fueled. Not properly fueling that activity is going to confuse your body by creating a mamoth sized deficit and your body thinks there's some kind of famine going on or something. Your body has an evolutionary response to this...it slows your metabolism to protect you.

Fuel your activity...you should be eating back most of your exercise calories. I always ate back at least 50% and up to about 70% to account for estimation error. Just make sure your burn estimates are as accurate as possible. Also, make sure you are logging your intake accurately, including weighing and measuring your foods. Calorie creep on the intake side is common. Usually when "it doesn't work" it's usually a combination of underestimating consumption and over estimating burn.

thanks everyone! No, I haven't been eating back any calories from exercise, it has it set about 1500 cal & I very seldom use it, so maybe I'm not taking in enough calories for the exercise workout. So, I'm in starvation mode? I think that's what I'm reading.

I doubt you're in starvation mode, but you really should track everything as accurately as possible and eat back your exercise calories. Your body can't be expected to function well on so little. If you don't have a kitchen scale invest in one. They're fairly cheap..some start at $10.
