I've managed to give up smoking, two years now but in that time have shifted my dependencies to eating, who would've thought......ha. So now I have to reclaim my physique. Just thought I'd share that :-)

Well done, that's fantastic, giving up the evil weed is a huge accomplishment and in the long term it is well worth the weight that you may have put on.

I've done the same thing and whilst not all of my weight arrived after giving up I did gain a fair bit. I have now lost 32lb and want to take off another 14. I've been working on diet and cardio up to now and have just joined my local gym so I can start some weight training.

My goal is to be 'beach fit and fabulous' by next summer and not a cigarette in sight!!!

If you can give up smoking you definitely have the willpower to get fit again!!

    Good Luck!!

Another former smoker here, 1 year down rest of my life to go. Like you I find myself eating more often now but thankfully I try to keep allot of fruit and veggies around that I like. I also found that I working out helps me. You already proved that you have the will power to change yourself for the better so no doubt you will get where you want to be.

Congratulations on quitting. I had to practice that several times before i managed to stay quit in 1999, and even now occasionally get cravings. Luckily they pass real fast. I did manage to lose about 50 lbs back in 2003, then gained it and more back. Yes food tastes so much better without smoke dulled taste buds. Now I am working off all these years of too much good food and not enough exercise. I want to fit my butt into those tiny airplane seats next year for my 25th anniversary.
  • Congrats on quitting. I quit 6 months ago yesterday and I know what you are going through with the excessive eating. I basically traded one bad habit for another. I am ready to exchange that for new healthy habits. We can do this!
