HRM suggestions

I'm in the market for a new HRM. I currently have a Sportline with a chest strap that I got from Wal-mart. This is the second one I've had of this brand and after a month or two, it just craps out. It doesn't get an accurate read from the chest strap, so I'm going to return this one and try to find a better one.

My requirements are as follows:

Chest strap (I don't want to have to touch the thing every so often to get a reading)
Ability to calculate calories burned
Ability to be able to swim with it. (ok, that's a luxury but it would be nice.)
Under $150

Are there any suggestions?

One more dumb question. Can you wear the chest strap in the water or just the receiver?

yes to all..the chest strap is vinyl..you can't push any buttons while wearing it in the water.

Polar FT7 all the way! Love mine! It meets all your requirements and importantly, you don't have to send it away to have the battery changed. However, if your limit is $150 then you may be able to go even higher on the Polar ladder ...though I'm not sure what's out there. Happy hunting!!

I have been happy with the Polar F6 and I swim everyday. Found on Amazon.com for $85.

The Chest Strap on the FT7 is kinda a stretchy fabric material and yes you can wear it all in the water

I ended up getting a Polar FT7. I hope it does me good. I'm still a bit nervous about the strap in the water.
