Exercising: morning vs. evening?

I've been wondering lately... Why do a lot of people run in the mornings? Is it better than running in the evening? If so, why? I'm just curious. I've heard that morning runs can help your day start off better, or boost your metabolism? I always hear so many different things. What are your thoughts on it? Is it just a personal preference kind of thing? Personally, I'm not a morning person, and would rather go out and jog in the evening.

Ok, with that you'll have better performance in the evening. Your body is fueled since you've been eating all day and much more limber which decreases injury. Running before breakfast helps you burn upwards of 20% more bodyfat since you're not burning any food for fuel.0

I like to exercise in the morning because it makes me feel like I have accomplished something and I'm not so tired, but I have to be able to ease into my day. I can't get up and go....it feels like I am dying. So, the only times I can exercise in the morning is on the weekends or on breaks (I'm a teacher).0

Studies have shown that people who exercise in the morning tend to be the most consistent because they get it out of the way. From a physiological standpoint, late afternoon and evening are the times when the body responds best to exercise.
Whatever time you'll actually exercise is the best time.0 -

Right now, I prefer morning because it's cooler!0

I just like morning runs because it's cooler, my trail is less crowded and I have a LOT more energy. In the evening I am too tired to be bothered.0

I've been doing my exercise mostly at night since I started 3 months ago and sometimes as late as 11 pm! It worked well until but as the weather's warming up I might switch it to earlier in the day... The important is that it gets done0

I prefer to run in the mornings because if gives me a great energy boost and makes me feel good about myself for accomplishing something so early in the day. Which then puts me in a fantastic mood all day.0

I have been working out at 5am lately because my kids are now busy with softball in the evenings. If I didn't do it before work, it wouldn't get done.0

I run in the mornings because my days get busy and I'm less likely to carve out the time unless I get it done first thing. I also do it in the morning in the summer since it's too hot in the afternoon to go later. I do fuel long runs usually by eating more carbs the night before and taking nutrition with me so the fat loss thing is negligible for me.0
