If only Europe was OUR continent... We'd sort everything out like when we owned you and the rest of the world.

Personally, I love it. Though I'm not from the US and we know how pernickety and cranky they get with someone putting down their country, even in jest...LOL

Specially, when it's a former prisoners' colony!

We cause disasters due to completely overlooking basic procedure pretty well.

We're also great at going to work and doing absolutely nothing.

We're extremely good at taking spices from all over the world and then somehow managing to make all of our food taste like a fried sponge.

We're incredibly good at giving people parking tickets, installing speed cameras, and generally getting all fussy over inconsequential BS.

Oh and let's not forget how great we are at completely neglecting customer service.

Especially when you get a parking ticket for parking your car outside your own home and getting flashed by a speed camera for stopping at a traffic light when it was red :grumble:

It is actually shocking that some of us Yanks do not know there were British penal colonies here before the American Revolution. I got into a disagreement with a teacher and an Aussie over it with them failing to believe that there were British penal colonies here at one time.

No to Greggs that place is an abomination to bakery hybrids.

Donkey on the beach? If we wanted to spend time on a shltty beach, we would simply visit Jersey.

    Extra support for 21, 27, 28.

Woah there.. what's your issue with Greggs? Greggs is a magical place.

LOL! Well as a proud American I read it fully expecting to be offended.

Sigh.....I agree with all of it.

One thing it did not have on the list was they have several banned substances in the UK that companies in the US put IN OUR FOOD!

Still a proud American though.

I'm a Yank and I agree with most of the list. #1 is way off, British beer is so good on its own, mixing it with cider is a travesty. #22 already happens in the US, at least the Boston train system has signs for commuters with expected wait time.

I am 100% on board with #25. After living abroad, in a former British colony, I got used to dd/mm/yy date formats because it does make so much more sense.

Using Beckham and saying "we could use a few of these in America". The dude lives here already, though I'm not sure where he's going post retirement.

    Dear USA

If you start doing even half of those food and drink related things you and I will fall out big time, we have some great food you can share but none of it was on that list !

If I ever arrive and find myself face to face with a branch of Greggs I shall be getting on the next plane home and I won't be coming back !

Believe me when I say you don't want 24 x 7 alcohol not unless you are prepared to master the art of slaloming around pavement pizza's (Google it !) on a Saturday morning nor do you want "laxer container laws" unless you want to travel everywhere with a clothes peg on your nose ( gotta love Eau de cheap beer and MacDonalds on the last train home at night !).

However I will concede that you could use a little work on your understanding and appreciation of Monty Python

In short I love you just the way you are and thanks for giving us proper BBQ !!

    love and hugs

True story: I once quoted that Monty Python scene (the one in the GIF) in a research paper for one of my upper level university classes. "You're not the king because some watery tart threw a sword at you!" Hell, that's possibly the most succinct justification of popular sovereignty that I've ever heard. (I got an A!)

My passport is American, but my heart is British. I'm not patriotic at all (which doesn't get me a lot of friends, living in a military town), and my sensibilities tend to lean more towards socialist democracies, like in much of Europe. If I could live in England again, or in Scandinavia, I'd do it in a heartbeat. I fully agree with pretty much everything on this list, and more.

someone please explain the donkey at the beach thing. why are barn yard animals and all their smells a good thing to have on the beach?

or maybe your waters are cold and you cant go in so no swimming/jet skis/surfboards etc...so you have to conjure more land activities?

    enlighten me! :)

I went to it after looking up a bakery and needless to say the items were not that great. I figured maybe it was that Greggs but after visiting one in Soho and got the same quality baked goods that were nothing special.

You know, the only thing I really agree with is 28. Education should be affordable for all... and yes I'm scottish.

Which brings me onto the other thing, the UK is not just England and if there's one thing that gets me riled about other nationalities its referring to us all as English. We're not. Rant over...

Normally the donkeys are on the beach where the sea tends to be a nasty shade of brown. Thinking about it, I've only ever seen donkeys in places like Cleethorpes and Scarborough (where the sea is brown) but I can't remember ever seeing them in places like Newquay and just the whole of Cornwall, where the sea is a nice blue colour, how it should be :)

Oh and It should be curry sauce on chips not fries. there's a big difference between the two in my opinion anyway.
