Alternating workouts?

Hi! I'm new to a regular workout plan. I'm used to just working out a few days and then quitting but this time I'm ready to get serious! My goal is to lose weight (and, of course, firm up my inner thighs, arms, and belly). Is it better to alternate workouts daily (like one day legs, one day arms, cardio etc., ya feel me?), or to alternate weekly, like one week work on arms only, one week work on legs only. Can I get some advice please!? Thank you!

It's not one week work on bodypart and the next another. There are many different ways to construct a workout routine. New Rules of Lifting for women(NROLFW) may be worth taken a look at I have the original version. It has workouts for beginners and explains in detail how to do the exercise. Also www.bodybuilding.com has a female section that has workout templates. Go to youtube for exercise instructions and details.

Many gyms offer a wide variety of fitness classes. Try some different classes and see which ones you like. And make sure to take a rest day a few times a week so your muscles have time to heal.

I'd say try different workouts. It helps your body not get too used to specific movements. I try to mix in cycling, swimming now, elliptical, rowing machine, walking, yoga, and zumba. it mostly depends what mood i'm in and what my schedule allows. though i would say don't workout the same muscles everyday in the sense of weights because your body needs to recover. so don't do bicep curls everyday because you need to allow the muscles to rebuild. so every other day might be okay.

I'm not exactly sure what your goals are, but normally when people start weight training they do full body work outs three days a week or so, with either cardio after lifting or on alternate days. NROLFW is a good place to start, or look for some beginner routines on bodybuilding.com. Good luck!
