Struggling to shift the lbs

Hi everyone,
I am really annoyed at myself, I cant figure out what is going on to be honest. I am the fittest ive been in my life, wearing a size 14 ( from a size 16/18 in September 2012) ... I am doing brilliantly with martial arts and also have 3 zumba classes a week.
Before xmas I was going to the gym 5 days a week for 1 hour - 1.5hours.... but I have a dilemma. I cannot shift the lbs, I am toning in places I can honestly say I never realised I had LOL!....

But I remain at a hefty 13stone :( This is depressing me something awful. I am 5ft6 in height and the docs `recommended dieting` which I do and im calorific watching fat intake etc...

I don't want a quick fix... 2 years ago I went on slimfast and it shifted 2st in 4 weeks.... I gained 4st back when I stopped.

So I am whipping my own *kitten* this time. usng myfitnesspal like I had done before when I was on slimfast but this time its purely healthy eating, cooking for myself with no freezer box weight watcher meals and keeping to my exercising.

I would appreciate any help that anyone might recommend with accompanying my dieting? I am thinking we may be going on holiday in September this year and I admit I would like to be in the best shape and shift this mummy tummy or most of it if I can.

Sorry, im rambling, I know what I want to do ... I know what to do.... just don't understand why the weight isn't coming off aswell as me toning.

In taekwondo we also do a lot of high intensity work outs prior to our sparring and patterns etc.

GAHHHH! all help , tips and everything else much appreciated.:flowerforyou:

Hi I've just posted a similar post ( weight loss plateau followed by 2lb gain) I feel your pain! I will follow your post for advice and maybe replies on mine will help you too, I'm sorry I don't know the answer but hope you get sorted. My guess is that people will say stick with it, be patient, it will come off but that's easier said than done. Best of luck x

Opening your diary would help, difficult for people to give advice without seeing what you eat.

    You're diary's still private hun. :)

How many calories do you eat? Have you tried the TDEE-method?

I was at that exact point in the end on 2012 when my doctor told me I have hypothyroidism. Now that I'm on mediaction I still don't "drop" the weight but it is slowly coming off.

I eat what i eat if im honest. I don't set out to say "ill have 1500 calories today" because chances are i could have 1000/800/something like that.
i am usually always below the RDA with my calories, i don't have a big appetite so i have to make myself eat and i do enjoy healthier foods more.

Please tell me my diary is viewable now? i have put my lunch in this morning because i know what im having ( went shopping lastnight LOL)

I also have no idea what the TDEE method is?

Feeling 100x better now i have people to chat to r.e fitness etc :)

Buy a digital scale if you do not have one, and weigh and log everything.

Edited - just realized that you joined today - how were you tracking calories before?

    I have one :) ....
I`ve only started again this morning ( fresh week fresh profile etc )

so I have my brekkie , ( granola 50g) Satsuma... and two coffees with semi skimmed milk and two sugars ( one each)

I cant do without my caffeine lol.

I also have logged my spiced butternut squash soup for lunch which apparantely will have 95 calories ... not bad, though I have never tried it im a bit optimistic

Can you see my logs? not sure if they will show after I have finished for the day or if they show if im posting?

sorry its been a while since I used the whole mfp thing

In any case, DON'T give up. Bear in mind that if at your current level of activity / nutrition you are not losing weight, once you give up watching yourself you will gain weight speedy quick. Try to look on any month in which you maintain your weight as a success. Don't bother yourself with changes of few lbs up or down. These are random fluctuations. Try to weigh yourself at most once a week, and always at the same time of the day.

Also note that many method to estimate calories burning are vastly exaggerating. This include gym machines, smart phone apps and also myfitnesspal.com. Make sure not to eat back all the calories you supposedly burned in physical activities

Perhaps after getting used to the current lifestyle you will be ready to cut a bit more in your calories intake or increase physical activity.

We are on the same boat here.
    GOOD LUCK

It shows up. Just eat 'normal' food but portion control so you can get as close to your calorie target as possible. Try to get more protein and fats than you have set up (treat them as minimums).

    Edited to fix quotes

    Thank you , very helpful.

I do feel sometimes that my new change in lifestyle is what I am getting used to.
My body had no regular exercise for around 7 years with being pregnant and bringing my kids up being a stay at home mum then.

Its all change ...for everything I guess :)

Take it one day at a time and ease into it. It will take a while to get your 'go to' foods down and to get used to what will and will not fit into your targets. If you end up a bit over here and there, do not worry about it - you have a 'buffer' built in (your deficit) - it will get easier with practice.

    Be patient and stay active.
