Hello. I am newly sober and have just discovered exercise. I love it! After spending some time away with family, I managed to curb my cravings for drugs, alcohol and cigarettes. I have been completely sober for 1 1/2 months. I feel great! I am back in my home (as of Wednesday) and I'm happy to say I haven't lost my desire to exercise or stay sober...in fact, just the opposite. While I was visiting my family in California, I ran the Wharf to Wharf 10K race in Santa Cruz and loved it. I had only been running for a few weeks before that. I'm at a much higher elevation now, so I will need to get my stride back. I have been running much shorter distance this week, but doing other exercises like cardio-dance videos and brisk walking. Also, while I was in California I made the decision to become a vegetarian again. I feel good, and I'm starting to get muscle tone again (although I haven't lost any weight in lbs yet). Anyone who wants to chat and share your experience, please do...I'm all ears!

-Elizabeth :-)

As someone who has had to get clean and sober before. I applaud you!! I have been clean since 12/12/07 and my life has been all the better for it!

Being active and exercising was a big help to me thorugh that process. I'm not sure what your DOC but exercise was one of the best 'therapies' out there once I got serious about being sober.

I won't ask you too much on a public board but if you ever need some input or feel like chatting about. I would be happy to help.

It sounds like you are doing wonderful and on the way to happy and healthy!
