In August hubby, 4 yo son & I are visiting San Fran for a few days and then driving down the Pacific Highway to LA - taking a leisurely 5 days to do this, any suggestions on must sees and where we should stop each night?
Thanks

Driving an hour or two a day? Definitely stop in Monterey. You and your husband, especially your son, will love the aquarium. JPB State Park. And make a stop just about anywhere and let your son go tide pooling0

Monterrey!

Monterey Aquarium for sure. Big Sur is really pretty and there are a bunch of state parks to get out and stretch your legs. San Simeon and Sea Lion Beach, Hearst Castle (you need tickets in advance so you may want to plan that). Pismo beach could be fun if you hit that area on a nice day. Santa Barbara is a nice stop too. Oh and how could I forget a detour to Paso Robles for some wine tasting (though it may be a little challenging with a kid but most wineries have outdoor space). Oh and maybe the Gilroy Garlic Festival too (I think that is usually in August). Bring motion sickness stuff - if you're not driving it isn't always the most pleasant experience.0

OMG Nepenthe burger at Big Sur will melt in your mouth. It is the best burger ever with a perfect view of the Pacific Ocean. You can sit out in the sun and enjoy your delicious burger. To make the experience more pleasant, make sure you are not with a girl you asked out on an all-paid vacation to Carmel, and when she got there, she said to you, hey I dont consider it a vacation if it isnt in Europe, and you are left wondering why you got yourselves the nicest B&B in Carmel!0

Thanks all - if there are any more suggestions they would be appreciated.
Also - any CF boxes on the way anyone recommend?0 -
Hearst Castle is very interesting, but not for a 4 year old. There is a crazy hotel near there in San Luis Obispo called The Madonna Inn, where every room has a different theme...one has a stuffed buffalo head and a western theme, some are cave rooms, some are romantic rooms, and some are just bizarre...look it up on the internet to get an idea before you consider it.0
