Walking Treadmill?

Hi. I'm 19, 6 feet tall, and 330lbs. I've been really motivated to lose weight but don't feel comfortable running in public being my size. I recently bought this and would like to know if this would help me and what I should do on it.

I would try interval training! (Well, this IS what I do lol) Medium-to-fast walking with 30 second "sprints". Your machine probably has this as an option and you can up the speed when you need to This gets your heart pumping, but gives you lots of time to rest between the quicker spots. I hate running, so the 30 second periods are all I can really enjoy.
If you don't want to do interval training, try the hill climb. It doesn't have to be fast, but makes you feel the burn haha.
Also, make sure you move your arms when you're walking, as it burns more calories and gets your whole body involved.
Here's some info on how to walk properly, including how to move your arms. http://walking.about.com/cs/beginners/a/10mistakes1.htm
Have fun on your new treadmill!!0 -
The important thing is to start. Put the treadmill in front of the TV if you are easily bored and watch a show every day. First start with as long as you can endure, 10 min, 20 min, and then progress to an hour, at 3mph, and have it on manual. As you become more comfortable, put it on a small incline 2 or 3. Experiment with the different programs. At the beginning, you might want to hold on the hand rail until you get the hang of it. But it is very straight forward. An easy program is to put it on manual at 3incline and 3speed. Every 3 minutes you increase only the incline by 0.5 and do it for 3 minutes, until you reach incline 6. Then you start moving downwards again. If you have weights, then you can incorporate holding them while you walk. Or you can hold water bottles, or milk jugs filled with water.0
