Fat reduction - face

With FNP I have successfully lost a couple of lbs the past few weeks. I'm still looking to lose about 6-7 more "vanity pounds" though.
Currently I am 5"9 and 134 lbs. I have always had a bit of a babyface and I want more defined cheekbones.

I have a typical pear shape (although my shoulders and hips are proportional. I have also balanced it out with a boob job). I know that if I gain, some of it will eventually go on my face, but even when I've been down to 125 lbs, my face hasn't been slim.

For those of you in the same situation, how skinny did you have to get before you lost the "puppy fat" of your face? Is microlipo on the face really the only option?

I think it depends on if you are meant to have a "chubby" face or not. I have always had chubby cheeks.. and after losing about 25 lbs they have slimmed down a bit and my cheeks are more defined but nothing super drastic. But some people lose face fat really easily but I don't because I'm meant to have chubby cheeks.. I'm sure if I got extremely thin I could get rid of them though, but I know I'll always have chubby cheeks still at a normal/average weight. So this might be the case for you too.

I was severely underweight once upon a time, and I still had chipmunk cheeks. Ive heard that there are some laser treatments that help, but I never had any done.

I think it varies from person to person, but for me this was a very distinct thing. I was over 50# overweight. I had more people notice I had dropped weight at the 35# mark than at any other point, because for some crazy reason my face lost a fair amount of fat between 30# and 35#. Enough that it is shaped slightly different now. It's a double edged sword; I have a little saggy skin on my neck that will likely take some time to disappear.

I have had a round baby face all my life. I hated it when I was younger, as I always felt 'fat', but now that I am almost 50, the extra fat in my face has helped me not have the wrinkles that many women already have at my age. Your face naturally loses fat as you get older, so if you have it lipo-ed out now, you may regret it later in life when you start looking drawn and wrinkly.

So embrace your chubby cheeks! :flowerforyou:

I've always had a "baby face" and when I gain, it's noticeable in my face. However, as I've gotten older, the planes of my face have become more defined. One of the perks of having this type of face is that you'll probably always look a lot younger than your years -- it may be annoying up into your mid-twenties, but once you start getting older you'll see that it's actually a blessing. It took me awhile but I actually like it now.

Ditto. I've always looked young for my age and I don't mind it nearly as much now! And my face has thinned out since my early 20s too.

I'm going to echo DebbieLyn - it will pay off when you get older for sure. You will be someone who doesn't have to make the "Face or Body" choice!

    ^^ this

It's basically genetic. I'm the opposite, I have a hereditary predisposition toward a very thin face and it's the first place I lose weight (and it never goes back on).

You'll want some fat to plump up the tissues as you age. I definitely look my age, if not older.

Hey yeah I expected a few responses like these.
My mum's 56 and she looks great for her age, and quite a few years younger. We both also have oily skin, so she doesn't have much wrinkles.
But I suppose it's human nature that I don't want to wait till 40 to look "good for my age". I'm also terribly unphotogenic and I have a very weak chin and not much jawline. It's good in the sense that it's feminine (which is not much on trend now though - models tend to have strong jaws) - my face just feels so babylike. I'm always "cute", never "sexy". I am wondering if there is anything I can do which won't necessarily compromise my youthfulness in the future.

Honestly, you have a lovely heart-shaped face. I don't see a weak chin....but if you ultimately do decide for a surgical option, I think it's possible to build your chin up a bit without going the lipo route, which has all sorts of downside risk (bruising, unevenness).
