Hi I'm Graeme.
I've a lot of weight to lose due to sitting around at home playing computer games for the last few years. I used to run as a teenager at a competitive level and although I'm not sure I want to go back to that but I do miss the feeling of running. I'm currently so heavy running hurts to the bone!
Happy to chat and encourage others and grateful if you do the same.
Good luck on your goals!

Greeting Graeme,
I just started my journey today, and I am proud to say that the community on here is outstanding. I can't give you any realistic advice since this is only my first day attempting to lose weight but I can say this. The harder it is to do, the bigger the result is once it's done. You know from video games it takes focus, determination, and time to succeed in goals. This is the same. I myself am a Call of Duty addict, since November I've logged 19 days 14 hours worth of my time onto the thing, accompany that with a job that takes in 42hours a week... you can imagine the time.
So yea, in short just use the same effort you put towards video games into this and you will see awesome results, and don't think you can't play them anymore. If I was to quit totally life wouldn't be the same. Everything in moderation my friend!0 -
Hi Graeme,
Welcome! I know the feeling of running hurting, so I'm just walking and doing workout videos for now. I was an extremely fit teen, when I was in high school, I was on the varsity swim team, track team, and tennis team. I'm hoping after I lose more weight and get more fit, I will be able to run again.
We can do this!0 -
Hi 260togo,
One may say I had a serious addiction, my game time in runescape is 601 days and 3 hours. (The days are not real days, they are simply incrememented every 24 hours of playing time)
Thanks for the reply - I've never tried moderation before and I'm going to have to!0 -
Thanks Cherry. I love your image - lets forget what is behind and press on!0

So running hurts, try just walking down to the end of the street then move to around the block and then two blocks and before you know it you will be running in no time. As we want to always push ourselves but dont over do it. You could try water arobics too, gives you the resistance yet easy on the joints. I always say I didn't get this way over night so it will take some time, small steps, small changes lead to a life time of fun filled activites and opportunities that we would not be able to see or do they way we are today!!!! You will do just fine!
Good Luck0 -
Great info! I use a walking DVD on days that I don't run and that is what I started with before running! Any movement is good movement - find your groove and it will get easier and you will get stronger in time!0

Hi!
I've been on MFP before and lost 40 lbs with ease. On that journey, I learned that the constant support of people with the same challenges is vital. I couldn't have done it without them. Unfortunately, life got in the way and I gained the weight back plus some--dang it! :explode:
I looking to build a support team (just like you) that will help cheer me on when I need a boost, give me an ear to vent to, and friends to celebrate my victories with. I promise to do the same for you!
Let's do this together. We can do it! :flowerforyou:
Just send me a friend request if you are interested.0
