Was MFP your introduction to weight loss/new lifestyle or...

...had you lost weight before joining?

Just curious.

Before joining MFP last month I had already lost about 40 lbs (SW: 285, CW: ~250, GW: 200); I now have approximately 50 more to go before I reach my goal.

After losing about 30 lbs of those initial 40 I joined WW, but after a few months of that I got the idea down pat and point tracking became tedious and boring...I also discovered that MFP offers pretty much the same thing WW does, except it costs me exactly zero dollars.

I'm here on MFP to finish up my goal and continue my new healthy lifestyle. I also really enjoy hanging out in the forums and helping those who are just starting out.

I lost some weight before MFP by just changing my eating habits...think I lost about 15 Lbs or so. I started with MFP because, even though I was eating a lot more veg and fruit and less junk food, I wasn't sure if I was getting my needed fats and proteins. MFP really helped me learn how to balance my diet more than anything. It's also taught me about calories as a unit of energy and how much energy my body needs to do whatever...lose, maintain, gain, etc.

No-I lost all my weight doing alternate day IF, and I spent a lot of time over on the adf group, at low carb friends. I joing MFP after transitioning into maintenance and wanting to track my macros for a while, to see why I kept losing weight. I've been here a couple weeks now and my weight has stabilized, so I don't know how much longer I'll hang out here, but it's been fun :)

The MFP phone app/barcode scanner was the final nudge I needed to get started.

I lost 8lbs before starting but it took months which was ridiculous. I had no help or support so I joined MFP. Then I lost 3lbs in my first week using MFP so i'm really happy I joined. It's put A LOT into perspective for me. I literally had no clue about what I was putting into my body before and now i'm learning a lot about food and making a complete lifestyle change.

I lost about 5 pounds before joining MFP but wanted to see how "bad" I was really eating so I joined to track my calories and have stayed thanks to the awesomely supportive community.

My first weight loss program was Weight Watchers when I was 11 years old. I think I've tried just about every diet under the sun over the years. I've even invented some just to keep my life interesting.

I like MFP the best because it is so customizable. I also like seeing other people's diaries for ideas for my own menus.

No. I lost most of my weight in 2011, using a similar site--MyPlate at Livestrong. At the time, it seemed to have the biggest food database. When I decided to lose more weight this year, I checked both and now MFP seems to have the bigger database, so I switched over.

Before MFP, I had lost weight both on my own and through Weight Watchers. Not matter what method I tried, I'd slide back into old habits after hitting my goal, and then slowly regain. This went on for about 10 years, until I found MFP. Since joining, I've been focused on changing my eating habits and improving my fitness, instead of just quick weight loss.

Between August and October of last year, I lost 4 pounds.... then gained it back and then some.

I guess you could say that MFP was my introduction to serious weight loss. I thought I knew what I was doing thanks to listening to bad advice for so long, but apparently I didn't. Yay for MFP!
