eating exercise calories

I never really feel that hungry the day I work out, but I'm famished the following day. Is there any rhyme or reason to eating my extra exercise calories the day after I run as opposed to the day I run?

I run 3 miles every other day. On my down days, I work full time and chase around my two toddlers. So, yes, EVERY OTHER DAY.

You should be fine eating your exercise calories back on a different day. Just look at your weekly calorie graph to see how you're doing for that week.

I don't see a problem with it. I am famished the day after lifting days. I generally keep my calories consistent because I'm not using the MFP method, but I don't see anything wrong with having higher and lower days as long as your goal for the week stays on target.

For me. It is important to eat my exercise calories back the day off. If I don't I get the famished feeling the day after or so. When I do that my strength in making good choices gets weaker and weaker. If that makes any sense.

I also don't see anything wrong with exercising every other day. I know you didn't ask OP but I'm just throwing that out there. :flowerforyou:

Thanks, I appreciate that. I have found something that works for me now, so running every other day as opposed to not at all is what I plan on doing. My down days are hardly that with my two active children.

Great- I will start taking notice of my weekly calories, I never really have looked at that report. Now that I've built up to that amount of running I'm really noticing a big difference in my appetite on the days I don't run.
