If 100 people rely to this you will probably get 100 different answers.

I use Sun Warrior Vanilla, it is rice based. My nutritionist is not a fan of soy or whey.

Optimal Nutrition Gold standard whey, try the double chocolate if you are a choco person. Peel first and then freeze a banana and then use it instead of ice. Let your blender blend for a minute to make the shake frothy.

And you can always do a search and find the same question posted every few weeks.

I've tried dozens of brands of protein powder, and the absolute BEST one I've tried so far is TRUTEIN. I've tried every single flavor, and though I love them all, my absolute favorite is Chocolate Peanut Butter... cause if you blend it up with milk and ice, it tastes just like a chocolate peanut butter shake. Of course, if you're super sensitive to the taste of protein, you'll detect the difference, HOWEVER... I've had several of my friends (who hate protein shakes) try it, and they all loved it. It's a bit on the spendy side (about $35.00 plus S+H for a 2.5lb tub), but it's VERY well worth it!! I've also recently tried their newest and limited Orange Creamsicle flavor... amazing! Blended w/ milk and orange juice, it tastes just like an orange creamsicle!! No BS, it's wonderful stuff.

I've also heard that Optimum Nutrition is really good too... but I haven't had the time (or lately, the interest) to try it, considering that I'm totally sold on Trutein and already have enough to last me a few months lol

So yeah... Trutein, baby! Delicious stuff! They also have a samples page, where you can order a sample of whatever flavor you want. If that one doesn't get you hooked, try Optimum Nutrition, that's got a lot of good reviews. :)

I use the GNC Mega Man, either Vanilla or Chocolate. They have an equivallent for women also. It is very tasty with no after taste to speak of.

Ask any friends that use protein powder if they'd mind you tasting theirs. Could save you a lot of money

I wish there were samples out there to try various kinds because everyone has different tastes so trying to find a good protein powder is a bit of a needle in the haystack (I've just tried to stay away from ones that everyone hates). I started with GNC "Lean Muscle Meal" Vanilla and Chocolate. I don't like the chemical aftertaste of the chocolate but the vanilla is pretty good. Then I started to add in a scoop of GNC's Iso Burst Whey (Natural Flavor) and that made it even better by cutting some of the sweetness of the vanilla. I don't think the Iso Burst on it's own would be very good as it is mostly tasteless but it is great as a sweetness "cutter".

I recently ordered a tub of the MusclePharm Combat Cookies & Cream and that is quite good as well (two scoops of that with a scoop of Iso Burst mixed in to make it less sweet and give me more protein per shake). I mix everything with 500ml of skim milk.

I've read good things about the Cellucor Cinnamon Swirl so I ordered that just recently to try out (along with a reorder of the MusclePharm).

Taste a bunch and find out.

I personally prefer Optimum Nutrition's Whey and Casein powders, chocolate.

Herbalife protein powder is great to add 1-2 scoops in a protein shake, I prefer berry flavour among the variety, also comes in choc, vanilla, cookie-cream

This really depends on the type of protein powder.

I'm not too brand loyal, but I will say that I like buying Vanilla if only because I like to add fruit to mine and I feel like vanilla gives me a good foundation to have tasty, fruity protein shakes. :) I typically do a serving of the vanilla, a frozen banana, and then whatever other frozen (or not frozen) fruit I'd like my shake to taste like. :)

Good luck to you, and have fun with it. :)

I take Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey (WPI- Whey Protein Isolates). I buy the Vanilla Ice Cream flavor from the Vitamin Shoppe- comes in 2 lb. and 5 lb. containers (for $23.99 and $57.99 respectively). I mix it with yogurt and nonfat milk sometimes. It's really tasty!

I bought a 5 lb. container of this protein from Costco, for $54.99 only to realize that it's 'performance whey', which has more protein and a little more carbs-presumably for more athletic people? So I returned it and got the one from The Vitamin Shoppe.

There is no correct answer to this question. Only personal preference. I use ON gold standard. I prefer the extreme milk chocolate flavor, banana is ok, strawberry is ok. Cookies and cream sucks. Ymmv.

Also the ON casean in chocolate peanut butter sucks. Dymatize casean in cinamon roll is pretty good. Again, ymmv.

Muscle Milk Cookies and Cream is by far the best tasting I've found. The Cookie Dough and Vanilla Cream isn't bad either. It mixes much easier than any other I've tried as well.

I agree with the post, if someone you know does it, try out theirs for flavor. Whey is great for muscle, but there are so many brands it really comes down to what your taste buds like in order to stick with it. Good luck

Foodbabe is a great blog to research best foods/brands to use.

    MY requirements:
Plant-based, contains greens too, high protein (this one had about the highest amount of protein per serving than almost any I saw).

It has an almost vanilla-ish type flavor. I mix it to fruit juice/smoothie and it just sort of gives it a sweet/creamy taste. It doesn't strongly "affect" the flavor.

I agree. I usually like vanilla or original flavor for that reason. I am not a fan of whey protein( taste wise and my body does not like it) so I am trying different vegetarian/vegan protein powders. I have not tried that many yet, but I loved Vitacost Brand Soy Protein powder ( inexpensive and it tasted good). I even liked it in chocolate. I have heard of problems with soy so I am going to try other types of protein powder after I run out of the Jarrow Formulas Soy Protein I have. It works great for my fruit smoothies and I don't find myself getting acidy as a result but it is a little chalky.

I usually do two servings of Jarrow Formulas Soy protein powder original, 2 cups of strawberries ( maybe a banana), 1.5 cups of almond milk, and 1 TBS organic sugar to taste. It tastes really good to me and is a large portion at a reasonable calorie cost.

I tried Hemp protein and it was terrible so I don't recommend it.

I usually stick to the soy protein because it is less expensive and I do not have much money.
