What’s better than pancakes? CLEAN PANCAKES!

Ingredients:

1/4 cup or 55g of quick oats

4 egg whites

cinnamon for flavor

20 g of crushed walnuts or almonds

Mix all the above ingredients in the bowl.
Pour mixture in a non-stick frying pan (or use Pam spray).
Fry both sides.

I've tried oat pancakes before, and let's just say, it was a no-go for me.

I used to blend 1/2 cup of oatmeal, 1/2 cup of cottage cheese and 2 egg whites for pancake batter.

    Pancakes:

    Original recipe makes 8 servings

    1 1/2 cupsall-purpose flour

    3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

    1 teaspoon salt

    1 tablespoon white sugar

    1 1/4 cups milk

    1 egg

    3 tablespoons butter, melted

I see nothing "DIRTY" about pancakes.

Just wanted to throw another recipe out there... :) just tried them last week and i loved em.

    http://www.topwithcinnamon.com/2013/01/2-ingredient-healthy-pancakes-gluten-free-dairy-free.html

Two ingredients: a banana and two eggs.. doesn't get much simpler then that.
Of course you can add other stuff and there's also another variation where you only use the egg whites (3 I think), the banana and whatever else.
  • I am obsessed with this recipe I saw on pinterest ,I made a few tweaks which I included:
    2 eggs
2 oz cream cheese ( I use lowfat)
cinnamon & stevia to taste (or use your preferred sweeteners & spices)
    * I added to the original recipe:
1 tsp Organic Cold Processed Vanilla Protein Powder & a TINY pinch of baking soda, like a tenth of a tsp or less

process ingredients in Magic Bullet or blender, LET SIT for 2 minutes to allow bubbles to settle

If needed use a clean non stick spray (I LOVE Trader Joe's coconut oil spray)

Cook on griddle or skillet about 1-2 mintues each side til golden brown

Serve with fruit or sugar free syrup or any other topping in line with your diet needs-
they are SOOOO GOOD! Even my 14 month old goes nuts for them!

I came here to post this, as I eat one almost every morning....

I dont use the nuts, and do put in 2 scoops of protien powder, and some blueberries or strawberries. I also did an apple one, which was very good.

The key for me is to put the oats in the blender, and chop them to a powder, then add the other ingrdiants, and the fuit at the end

I fail to see how quick oats is cleaner then flour. Both are processed, both are grains.

I like oatmeal. I like eggs.

I mixed them together and cooked them in a pan today. The result was less than phenomenal.

I tried the banana pancake thing.

My initial thoughts upon first taste were... EWWWWWWW! Whoever thought that up needs to be spanked in an unfun way.

It's not a pancake. It's egg with banana in it. I like them both but not together. And definitely not with honey or syrup.

If you really want these though, they actually taste better and sweeter if you cook them and then put them in the fridge to chill for a couple of hours. Eat them plain, they're pretty good as an after workout snack... but don't think of them as pancakes.

Similarly, spaghetti squash is not spaghetti but that's a whole other post.

If you want pancakes, just eat a bloody pancake and be done with it. Just don't eat an huge stack of them. Everything in moderation, yeah? LOL

Occasionally I will crave pancakes. I go and get an order of pancakes. Take a few bites after dipping them in a small amt of syrup. Guess what....they don't really taste that good anymore so I quit eating them.
