What the heck is "juicing"?

A friend of mine is on a juicing diet....all natural stuff she says......and has lost 17 lbs in 2 1/2 weeks. Good for her, if it's a healthy way to lose weight, but I'm thinking it really isn't because who can maintain a liquid diet for the rest of their life?

From what I understand, she drinks something full of natural stuff for breakfast and again at lunch and then has a small snack and a solid food dinner. Like I said....doesn't sound like a long term lifestyle change to me....but I could be wrong because I honestly don't know enough about it.

Does anyone know what it's about? Is it healthy? Is it screwed up?

I like to chew my food.

That's not to say I don't enjoy homemade juices, I own a juicer. But I don't replace meals with it. I chew my meals and drink my juices.

Good for your friend but most of that is probably water weight.

Oh and juicing can be healthy, but I don't see that as a lifestyle one could maintain forever.

I'd recommend watching the documentary "Fat, Sick, & Nearly Dead" -- I'll bet anything that's where she's gotten her inspiration. Personally, after two days, I had to give up. It's terribly, terribly hard on a person mentally, and I don't think it's sustainable either. We have teeth for a reason! ;)
