I need more energy in the morning for my 6am workout

I've eaten a little bit before my morning workouts and today I didn't eat anything.

What is working for you. Do you carb up the night before, do you fast and go high protein after your workout. I don't drink coffee and I don't like bananas..lol. I find myself actually yawning in between sets. I normally get 7-8 hours of sleep.

I'd love to hear what gets you a jump start 30 mins before a morning workout. I would love to get through my sets without feeling exhausted. It feels good to feel the burn, I would just rather feel more "pumped" in the morning.

Due to my work schedule and 4 children and wife I can't find the time to workout at night.

Thanks in advance to any comments. Also if you are dedicated and wanted to add me as a friend I'd love that too.

Joe

Yawning is nt a dietary issue. You either need more sleep or a more interesting workout.

I'll be curious if you get any good suggestions.

I struggle on what to eat/not to eat before my Saturday am workout session.

Well I can't give you my specifics, since you don't like coffee or bananas (this is crazy to me), but for me it totally helps to make a smoothie in the morning before my workout (I do the same if it's 40 mins strength or a 2 hour run). I can't handle solids before excercise but I can tollerate almost anything in liquid form. I don't believe in protein powder, but generally throw in 3 tablespoons hemp hearts. But I usually include coffee and banana in my blends. But almond milk, frozen peaches, spinach and hemp or something like that is good too.

I also make sure to eat a really decent dinner the night before with at least 32oz of water. I think the dinner, water and morning smoothie all work together.

As soon as my alarm goes off I like to turn on Pandora to my workout station to start getting me pumped up. It doesn't really help with the yawning during my workout but it gets me outta bed haha.

I use Amino Energy - I mix a few scoops in some water and drink it about 30 mins. before I get to the gym. I'm pretty sensitive to your usual stimulant/energy type products, and AE gets me feeling really good without making me feel like I'm cracked out on some questionable substance! I get mine from the local GNC - they have several flavors (fruit punch is my fave so far). Another thing I like about the product is you can drink it as a regular "pick-me-up" in the afternoon (1-2 scoops). I do 5 scoops before my workouts and feel great, but not crazy. My issue is I have a trainer so we have to work out in the afternoons/evenings. I'm always completely exhausted from work by the end of the day, so this has really helped!

Joe, this is something I've been thinking about a lot, since I've started swimming before work. (I start working at 6am.)

    I am trying two things:
    Wake up Juice:
    6oz of water
    1 scoop Eplenish
    1T Maple Syrup
    1T Nescafe coffee crystals

    OR
Sabra has single serving packs of hummus. I think it's 2oz of hummus, and 150 kcals.
