don't worry about the scale every day for true happiness0

No one can tell you what you can handle. I weigh every single day. Weight goes up, weight goes down.0

Accept that you retain water and get bloated during that period. Ignore the scale or track it for scientific purposes.0

I weigh everyday because I'm trying to make a trend line (if you obsess and get upset over the number - don't do this - weight fluctuates daily, especially around that time) ...bottom line- the TOM logic (if there is any) is that a weight gain will occur around and/or during your TOM. The best suggestion I've gotten/used is to be aware of your calorie intake (splurge a little on those cravings, but not too overboard).
Although, I can't get this verified, I have also heard (and believe it's true) that women tend to burn extra calories during that time too.0 -
I thought I could handle the info, but to be honest, it's got me bummed out at the moment.... well, actually the TOM in general has me bummed out, but the weight issue certainly doesn't help. I feel just feel gross in general due to some hormonal stuff... the bloating, constipation, irritable mood in general.. so the weight on top of all that is just one more thing for me to get mad about.
I'm trying to think of it differently and I'm logging my weight into a period tracker on my phone. That way, next month, I can compare it to this month and see when and how much the fluctuations occur. I know MFP can do the weight tracking, but it helps for me to see it in comparison to other symptoms that occur at the same time.0 -

That's a good idea...I don't have a smartphone, so does that phone app have a web address I can go to and keep track too? When do you start tracking (when your period actually starts or days before when the other symptoms show up)?0 -
I have a lot of friends who gain water weight every single month..don't weigh during your cycle. It may not be worth the angst...just my suggestion!0

avoid the scale at that time (even for the few days prior to it when you start to PMS and feel bloated, make sure you drink more water than the usual to decrease the post TOM bloating as well) it's not worth the inevitable disappointment and self-doubt.
good luck!0 -
I think every woman cops this one whenever its her TOM so remember you're not alone! I weigh weekly so i don't get too focused on weight, BUT I will say over the last month I started a really comprehensive measurement approach (the three on MFP app just werent doing it for me!) so now, when i get bummed out or freak out (which.. like you.. happens because I am SO easy to go there during that time) I can measure and rationalise myself out of it, cause obviously I can't have gained THAT MUCH if I've lost inches right? I found this helped a lot, so it might work for you too.
Good luck and hopefully you'll not let the wheels fall off during that time0
