Doubts about protein shakes

I workout 6 days a week for 2 hours during the evening -at least 1 hour cardio and 1 hour of regular gym. I burn roughly around 300-400 calories daily. I want to start drinking a protein shake for dinner/after my workout. However, I bought a packet of protein mix that contains the following:
76g of powder contains: 42 grams of protein, 288 calories, less than 1 g of fat, 28 g of carbs of which 17 grams comes from sugars, 1 gram of dietary fiber and 145 mg of sodium, it also provides 13 vitamins and 10 minerals and fiber.
first of all, i don't want to loose weight with this, i want my body to recover after my workouts and hopefully it will help me build leaner muscle.
F.Y.I: i always meet my daily protein needs (46g) but if i drink this protein shake, i'll be going over by 42 grams of protein- maybe less since i work out but the last thing i want my body to do is to store any excess protein as fat....
is the protein mix too much???? what advice could you give me on this....

42g of protein isn't enough for anyone who weighs over about 60 lbs.
Shoot for 80-110.0 -

I weigh 107 lbs but like I said I already meet the daily protein that MYFP sets and adding 42 grams with the protein shake will make it go over! so i'd be consuming 88 grams of protein... so this is ok???0 -

MFP sets the protein limit low.
The general consensus is 1g of protein per lb of LBM as a minimum target .0 -
If you're working out you need somewhere between 60 & 100 grams per day. 88 will not hurt you.0

Macros are important but you are not going to kill over if you have "too much". My LBM is 111 lbs so I ensure I get at least that much but my macros are set up for 124g (25%). Just do whatever you feel is right for you, What works for me won't necessarily work for you and vice versa0

28 grams of carbs seems a little high in a protein powder too. You should consume roughly 1 gram of protein per pound of your goal weight. Going over on protein isn't necessarily a bad thing either. It sounds like you may need to customize your goals. a 40-40-20 protein, carb, fat mix is a great balance, but you could also play with it a little to find what works best for you. If you are only burning 300-400 calories with an hour of cardio, you may want to look into interval training. You could burn that same amount in 30 min or less. More than 1 to 1.5 hours of exercise starts to become overkill and can actually have adverse effects.0

First, 42g of protein is your daily need? Did you miss a 1?
Also, that isn't a protein shake. That's a meal replacement. Look for something that is at minimum 80% protein.0 -
MFP's default for protein is 15%...too low. Based off calculations, I should be at 30/35/35, but am doing 40/30/30 for now. You should be getting around 100g...at least0

actually thats according to 15% of your daily calorie goal is coming from protein but for somebody who is trying to build muscles it should be around 30-40% ..... you can change it in your setting >goals>custom goal and change protein to 30-40% and can reduce cards and fat a lot of ppl follow 40-40-20 or 40-30-300

I have mine at 30% but it is to maintain/prevent muscle loss as I lose weight0 -
You will read all different ranges on protein requirements for active people. Some "experts" will say 1-1.5 grams per lb and others will say .8 or 1 gram per LBM.
You mentioned you aren't trying to lose weight but gain muscle. You may want to re-evaluate your workout. One hour of lifting with one hour of cardio is a probably too much for someone trying add muscle. You don't gain muscle while lifting. Lifting is a catalyst to build muscle. They grow during rest. Also you need to increase the stimulus when you can which can be more reps, more weight, same weight with less rest, ect.0 -
