New Regime in Town: 3 oz. per not 4!

The recommended serving for most red meats is 3 oz. cooked. There are two of us. In the past, I carefully packed meat in 8 oz. packages for the freezer, be it raw bulk sausage or cooked pulled pork. This week, everything is going in 6 oz. bags. I don't think we'll notice the difference when the meat gets incorporated in meals and we'll be cutting our red meat consumption by 25% without noticing. Can't beat that.

Wow, we buy in bulk. That is a great idea. No I don't think I would miss an ounce either especially if more vegetables are available! Great job on thinking this one up!0

Bummer. I wouldn't even bother. 8 oz minimum for meat IMO & that's small. Typically eat 8-16 oz of red meat or pork & 16-24 oz of chicken for dinners.0

10 ounce ribeye for me tonight0

I had 16 oz of chicken breast myself. 11.25 oz or pork last night.0 -
if you are packing raw meat, remember that 4 oz of raw will become 3 oz of cooked:)0

While I can't pack it away like the tall guys above ^^^ I would still consider 3 oz very small. I already don't get enough iron - I could never cut my meat down to a portion like that.0

There's no way I'd be satisfied with only 3 oz of meat. Do you realize how little that is? Not even worth cooking imo.0

Three or four ounces is a tease to me. I put that in my morning egg white omelets.0

I know how you feel. I, too, have been lied to about size before... Imagine my disappointment.0 -
Oh hell no. I try to get 8-12 ounces cooked per meal. Get that brotein in, bro! 3 ounces uncooked isn't even enough for a wimpy burger.0

Miss Von Shtupp, are you sure this is just 3 oz?0 -

And, of course, the cut line: Ma'am, you're sucking on my arm.0 -

I'm dying right now at this thread.
If I'm chopping the stuff up and putting it with something (i.e. pasta) 3 oz. is no problem for me. However, if it's sitting there as it's own entity, I would like about 6oz. or else I feel like I'm eating a nugget rather than a portion.0 -

Yup this. I always log meat at its raw weight because it changes with cooking.0 -
I can fit 3 oz of meat on a cracker.
BRB, going to pick up some crackers to eat with dinner.0
