I had gestational diabetes, I am 8 weeks pp now. My fav snacks were cheese cubes and wheat thins also when I was craving something sweet a tablespoon of peanut butter or a sugar free fudgesicle. Hope that helps, I had a hard time with it because all I craved was chocolate, but happy about it now, it kept my weight in check!

Id chat with your OB. I was automatically referred to a specialist for consultation and nutrition counseling. (I had GD with my second pregnancy but not my first. I only gained 8 lbs and was very careful. I only required medicine for the last month before delivery)
Test your blood regularly- and keep a food diary if it helps.
    BIG things to know:
YOur body will process fake sugar the SAME way as real sugar.. so diet products and sugar free items are really not good for you! Your body is not made to digest them

ALWAYS eat protein with your snack! (egg, peanut butter, cheese)You are going to have to avoid sugary foods- juice, sweets, etc. But also breads and pastas. Juice LEGIT made me feel DRUNK before I knew I had GB.

Its important to eat often- 3 meals and 2-3 small snacks.

Again, I am only speaking from personal experience but I know they taught me it is dangerous for you to deliver when your sugar is high. It is different what "high" means for a typical diabetic (Type 1 or 2) and a gestational diabetic. I am mortified of needles, and I survived. (and so did my girl.. she is now 3 1/2 :) Good luck and feel free to message me if you have other questions.

I would definitely meet with your doctor regarding a meal plan and follow-up visits. The gestational diabetic diet is very specific. You should be limited to a certain amount of carbohydrate per meal and snacks. There are some foods that you should exclude and certain foods that you should only have at certain times of the day. Balancing your carb, protein and fat intake is important. The best people to guide you are your healthcare team. We’re all different and these differences matter with respect to your health and that of your baby. Your healthcare team knows your specifics and they are the best ones to help you.
