The 1st picture represents what really pushed me over the edge to really seriously change. It was taken when with my oldest son at the 1st Cross Country meet during his Freshmen year in High School. When I received the image from a friend and also all the running around I did to watch (and about died doing so) and running around with our fall events (Oldest XC and Marching band, other 2 boys play football) I knew it was time to change. This was fall 2009. I started slowly and in January our town opened a Park District Health Club (Socialism at work ) and thats when my wife and I really got serious. It wasnt until late January that I got on the scale so dont know how much I lost during the fall and beginning of January. I weighed in at 310.
The 2nd photo was taken a couple of weeks back during my sons last High School Track meet and from the 310 I am down 87 pounds. More importantly is the lifestyle change. The weight loss has come in bursts with mostly little gain between bursts. I am 3 pounds away from the weight that I was when my wife and I got married, but I am really in the best overall shape of my life. We run, we bike, we hike, we swim, and we chase around those 3 boys with gusto. In a couple of weeks we will be headed for 3 weeks traveling through Europe before our oldest heads off to the University of Wisconsin. Have to give a lot of credit to my oldest. It isnt that he pressured us to change, we just did because apparently the genes we gave him were good enough to make him the #1 distance runner in his High School so why should we waste those genes.
