New to the community and looking for support/advice

Hello community,

I joined MyFitnessPal a while ago, but didn't really "start" until about two weeks ago. I had already started increasing my activity, so I thought I would utilize the app to keep track of calories. I am early thirties and have two young children. After my younger child was born I have not been able to loose the last 10 pounds of pregnancy weight (and I was already over my ideal at that time). My goals are to have a lean, healthy look; not a "cut" or bulked look. I want to know that I have a healthy heart and bones and that I am providing a good model of health for my daughters. The app set my daily calorie goal as 1200. It has been a bit of a struggle to keep to that, especially as I am continuing to increase my activity; anyone else have this issue? Here are the facts: I'm 5'2" and need to loose about 25-30 lbs.; I'm really working at sticking to the 1200/day calorie goal; I'm working out 4-6 times each week; my workouts consist of elliptical (20 min, still working up to 60 minute goal), once per week yoga (60 minutes), and Tracey Anderson's Mat workout DVD (60 minutes). I'm rotating between the DVD and the elliptical, and the yoga is in addition to the morning workout. I'm buring 150 and 385 calories with these workouts. However, this morning I weighed myself for the first time since beginning tracking, and I have not lost a single pound!!! I was in tears this morining; how could I be working so hard and seeing absolutly no results??!!! I know I've only been tracking my calories for a couple weeks, but the workouts have been building up longer than that. Am I expecting results too soon? Am I doing something wrong? I'm feeling very disapointed and discouraged. Any advice? Thanks.

Give it time :) Don't always use the scale. I check my measurements every 30 days. Weigh myself every 2 You may have calculated your calories incorrectly to, I can help if needed. Don't give up, My favorite saying is that it takes 4 weeks for you to notice your body changing, 8 weeks for your friends to notice, and 12 weeks for the rest of the of the world. :)

Hi, I joined mfp about a year ago and i to am looking for support and maybe someone to chat here and there about the hole trying to lose weight thing! I am 33, with 2 kids and i have been struggling with my weight since i had my first child. I have about 70 pounds to lose, but i have real issues with achieving this! I have very good intentions, i get started, counting my calories faithfully, i also workout 3-5 times a week, doing kickboxing and weights and recumbent bycicling , and i will do all of this for 0ne month or 2 and then i fall off the wagon cause i get obsessed with my scale and i start weighing myself absessively and if i don't see much wieght coming off in numbers i sabotage myself and give in. i t seems i can never get past a 10 pound loss. In your case though, you are working out and doing all the right things from what it sounds like, so maybe you need to not weigh yourself and instead go by measurements, cause if you are doing all that workouts you might be building muscle and trimming up! did you measure yourself before you started? if not measure yourself now and forget about what the scale says and keep doing everything the same for another 6 weeks and measure yourself then and i am sure you will see the difference that way, at least that's what my dietician and my excersise therapist tells me, if only i could stay on track, fy husband makes it really hard for me to, cause he always says he"ll start trying to lose weight with me but he never does it for more than a day or 2 then he says its to hard with his work to be watching what he eats, and then he'll bring home a bag of nacho's and have nochos and cheese infront of me and of course i give in! Any way i am wanting to give it another try and maybe we could try and motivate eachother or something! TTYL:wink::wink:
