Ok, husband is at a poker game tonite and the kids are in bed...finally! I want to relax with a drink and watch a good old scare-the-crap-out-of-you kind of movie. Should I watch the latest Texas Chainsaw massacre movie or is it stupid?

I need some good ideas! Thanks horror movie people! I haven't watched a good scary movie in a loooooonnnng time because of the kids or because hubby doesn't like them.

Thanks!

Side note: My parents were crap and they would let us watch anything short of pornagraphy growing up, including all levels of horror movies.

YES I WAS terrified of the dark.

My boys could care less if it's dark, and have never watched anything scary. The scariest "movie" was the T-Rex exhibit at the Field Museum in Chicago.

I sometimes think to myself "I could ruin their childhood in 1 hour and then chuckle. LOL I'm a horrible person.

I just watched Wrong Turn 5 the other night and it was okay. If you want a good one that not too many people have heard of check out Wolf Creek. If you want to check out the trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cm8duRDsS8E

I'm actually STILL scared of the dark because of horror movies! I have a large acreage of woods behind my house and I keep thinking at any moment Jason is going to pop out! Unfortunately, I have the sweetest dog in the world and would welcome Jason with tail wags and kisses. LOL!

Creepy old man! LOL! Yeah, I like the wrong turn movies. The first one was pretty scary. Reminds me never to go to W. Virginia!

Can't do the hills have eyes. I think I saw the first one and they ate or tortured a baby or child. I had to turn it off. If it involves kids then I'm out!

    Bro, What?? :noway: :grumble:

    Its kinda boring.

Also I like movies with less Gore more scare. This isn't frightening at all.

Ya, call me a puss if ya want but I'm just not into the movies that are gory and just.....Ehh, I HATED when they burned the dad alive. That was just awful.
I actually stopped watching one of the Saw movies about 10 minutes in and then never watched another.

on a paranormal basis, The Others was the best horror movie for me.

on a gore/blood/torture basis, any version of Tx Chainsaw!

note that if you are kind of psycho and do not have feelings and such, you wouldnt know what its like to be scared.

Soo many movies...Depends if you want a good oldie or something newer.

Friday the 13th, Freddy, Sleepaway Camp, Child's Play, Halloween...
I am trying to think of more recent movies but am drawing a blank...Identity is good. Do you have Netflix cause there are tons of scary movies on there.

I remember seeing Rob Zombi's first major flick (can't remember the name).....Saw it when it first came out to theater and hadn't really heard anything of it.
People were leaving the theater like I have only seen during Adam Sandler's 8 Crazy Nights.

And EVERYONE who stayed looked disgusted with themselves for staying. Me included. LOL

If your looking for something strange creepy and gory try watching House of 1000 Corpses. Its a Rob Zombie movie. It was interesting to say the least!
LonLB is this the movie your thinking of?

gore movies are scarier than paranormal in my book. No ghost is gonna come and torture you. But there are disturbed people who would love to live in your closet. Just saying....

I liked Woman in Black, but you have to be patient. It takes a while to get going!

Ya that's the one. When the freak guy wears the dad's face and says "Who's your daddy?" then licks that girls face.....Ya that's screwed up. But even worse is when he shoots that guy Zombie wrights in the flashback of memories scene right as it's happening.

    R/Z has problems for sure

    Original WOMAN IN BLACK

If you don't mind subtitles - MARTYR was demented, disturbing and will never ever leave your brain

If you can get it, Jack Ketchum's THE WOMAN is a brutal but intense movie

Old school horror - THE OTHERS was a good Hollywood movie.

THE CRAZIES is always entertaining, as is SLITHER both are fun and nasty at the same time

The Haunting in Connecticut. It's not too terribly scary but it's creepy.

The Grudge traumatized me for years and years.

    The Ring was freaky.

    The Shining
    Carrie
    The Orphanage (subtitled movie)

Depends on what you are into. Gory or scary?
I always freak out over the movies that can attract copy cats.

Wolf Creek is scary in itself because it is based on a true story, gets your brain ticking whilst you are driving through the outback of Australia when it's pitch black & not a sole around!!!!!!!

I want to see the Woman in Black. Thanks for reminding me!

OH! and one that I watched recently for the first time that blew my mind at how creepy and genuinely intense it was ...

    The original CAPE FEAR

Holy crap! The remake with De Niro has NOTHING on Mitchum. Not even close.
