    Really lol
I am training for a 5k and am on week 4 of the C25K program (run 1/4 mile, walk 1/4 mile, run 1/2 mile, walk 1/2 mile and repeat).
My fastest pace this week has been 15 min/mile averaging a 3.5 mph pace.
I know this stinks! Is it even worth it?
I really do like running. In high school I ran track but was a sprinter (100yd and 200yd dash, relays). I have never had endurance.
I feel bummed because everyone seems to be doing <10 min miles.
Should I give it up and try something else?

Don't give up, I promise you not everyone runs a 10 minute mile. After about a year of training and running for fun I run in the eleven minute range. Just do it because you love it and eventually work on speed. Actually I don't think that program trains for speen just endurance. So once you finish it you can look up tempo runs and start trying to get faster. I do tempo runs as well. Good luck girl I know you can do it.

Do not quit. Do not give up, ever.

This reminds me of a t-shirt I saw at local 10K. This big guy was wearing a shirt that read, "I know I'm slow, but I'm still faster than the guy on the couch."

    Love it!

Don't quite, everyone starts slow, I just got back into running. [I was also a sprinter in high school] So far my fastest time has been about 40mins with and average pace of about 12-12 1/2 mins a mile. And its sucks cause I used to be able to run a 7:30 mile. But everyday it gets a little better. So just keep going and keep us updated! :)

Running takes months to improve on.
I started out the same as you ran a mile in 15 minutes.
Now I'm down to running a mile in 6 minutes.
I go from running 1 mile to running at the most 12 miles (highest) and average 8 miles/day.
It takes practice and time to improve on but you'll get there.

Don't give up! Remember you're doing this for YOU! I did the couch-2-5K, and that's how I got started running! I have only been running for a little over 1yr now. I have now completed 3 -5k, 2 -1/2 marathons, and I'm about to do a mud run. At best I run a 12 min mile, and worst 14 min mile. 6 Minutes Or 16 Minutes A Mile Is Still A Mile!!!!

    Running takes months to improve.
Took me 5-6 months to get where I'm at now.
    Longest Running Distance: 10 miles
    Average Running Distance: 8 miles
    Fastest Speed: 6 minutes/mile.

Do burpees, leg work outs, practice controlled breathing and keep practicing.

    You'll get in no time.

When i started out i think i was doing 13:30-14 min miles last may. After running a year and losing 30 pounds i can do 11:04 miles. Still not what i consider fast but it is progress. I can't do 10 minute miles, but i CAN run 13.1 miles, and even though im slow i'm training for a marathon. My long runs may take me 4 plus hours once i'm doing 20 mile runs, but imo that takes just as much if not more than people who finish marathons in 3:30.

I started out horrible. Heck! I still am horrible, but am slowly and consistently getting better.

Getting a dog that herds me on our runs helped. He doesn't let me stop or slow down or I get nipped. If you need a free motivator I can loan him to you. He does try to pants you sometimes though.. so be warned.

Don't give up! And remember even at your worst you are still out there doing it! That's a heck of a lot better than a lot of people so you should be proud of yourself.

Like everyone else has said, don't stop! Keep going, especially since you enjoy it! I run too. I just finished week 6 day 3. My average pace for today was a 12-13 min mile, 2.81 miles total. But that's also due to the periods of walking, and the fact my dogs slow me down a bit (which shouldn't be an issue but it is!)

So just keep at it. Your endurance will build up over time. :)

Unless somebody's paying you to compete, get it into your head that your competition ought to be against yourself, and so just make sure you train enough to watch your numbers improve, and don't worry about what other people are doing.

If I'm paying to run a 5K, then I'm going to run/walk it at whatever speed I can muster, and enjoy myself along the way. Just to get my money's worth.

Also, think resistance training and yoga. Two really great support systems to help people run better, stronger and faster.

slow and steady wins the race. Like others have said, once you have the endurance you will get the speed.
