Once you start logging all your food and making changes for the better then you'll know how many calories you have to play with and be more conscious of what fits into your daily limit. There are quite a lot of low cal sweet treats that you can eat and still lose weight. I tend to graze a lot through the day but try to exercise portion control.
You'll probably spend the first couple of weeks being amazed at how many calories are in things like onions but you'll get used to it and you can get healthy with the support of MFP members.
Add me if you like, I'm about most days0 -

Welcome to MFP. There are probably lots of folks here that have a story similar to yours. I have a few recommendations for anyone new to the site -
1) Fill out a complete profile. This let's other people find areas of common ground...maybe location, occupation, or maybe physical similarities. If you walked up to the door of my home with a face mask covering your face, I may not be very welcoming...for no reason other than I can't tell anything about you. It's kind of the same thing, leaving your profile empty. Personally, I am not going to have a lot in common with a 20-ish stay at home Mom who weighs 150 and joined MFP to train for a marathon. If your profile is blank, then how do I know I did not just describe you?
2) Check out the "groups" feature. This is a way we can break up into small groups around specific topics: weight, age, fitness goals, etc. Here is one - http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/1012-emotional-eating
3) Use the "find members" feature. Do a search for people you think would be good buddies, then contact them to see if they would welcome a new friend. The people who are the most successful with MFP are the ones who have connected to friends for support and accountability.
As for specific tips - They are everywhere. My Plan works for me...may or may not work for anyone else. I have the specifics in my profile. Click on the name under the picture on the left to check any one's profile.
Again, welcome to MFP.0
