Is it safe to run?

Hello all, I was wondering if anyone could help me with my workout ideas. I was a normal weight until about 2 years ago when I was put on some dodgy medication and gained 10 stone. Throughout the time I was gaining weight, I trained two-three times a week in Taekwondo (which involved calithensetics -sp? interval running, sparring etc). I did this up until March this year when I went into hospital for mental health reasons. It's only been about 2 1/2 months and during that time I've been walking and doing kettle bells.

I was thinking to start the c25k because I had success with it before.

is that a good/bad idea?

Thank you!

Allie

I was thinking the same. I thought I was missing something when I read the question...

Oh sorry, I should have mentioned my issues about it - doh!

I'm worried that I might hurt myself because I weigh 275 lbs, I don't know if it would be bad on my joints after a break.

Sorry if my question sounds a bit stupid

I think as long as you don't go out on a record setting pace....just take it easy and don't push yourself. Good luck to you!!

    Thank you :)

I think that I'm a long way off record setting pace! If I remember correctly, when I started c25k the first time, I could actually walk faster than I could run!

I know the feeling!! I've been doing the majority of my C25K on a treadmill. Went "running" outside for the first time this week. BIG difference. More difficult outside than on a treadmill. I've had people tell me to put the treadmill on a 1% incline to help for the transition from running on a treadmill to going outside.
