I have just read about the barcode scanner on the phone App, just tried it and it's brilliant I normally spend ages trying to find new food I eat. Now I can scan it before I open it, amazing.

It is a great help. However, even when you scan stuff, check the reported nutritional info with what the food packaging says. I like everything to be in line and synchronous. It seems like 75% of the time the scanned information does not match the package information. It's usually just a tad bit off. Probably not enough to make too much of a difference. But it is frustrating to me. If it's not perfect then I go to searching the database until I find the correct values.

On the MFP app? If so, where is it located within the app?

Go to dairy, then add food, select breakfast, then there is a sqaure with a squigly line in the top right corner this is the scanner. The barcode lines need to be like this IIIIIIII and the scanner line the opposite way.

Thanks for that I will keep an eye out for the small differences.

The more gadgets the better! Just tracking helps me stay on track and that barcode thing is great :-)

The barcode reader is particularly good when you are creating a recipe or a meal that you will use over and over. For instance I have bleeped all my ingredients...flour, sugar, eggs etc and now I have them stored so it's easy to pull a recipe together.

I've used it alot cause i use the phone app alot more.
but some things it doesn't have in the data base even if they are a big brand name and the no match comes up which is annoying.
Or it comes up as something completely different.

My husband got read the riot act by his doc about his ridiculously high triglycerides. He started using MFP to lose a few pounds since I already used it. He brightened up considerably when he found out he could barcode scan stuff in.

I believe sometimes MFP rounds up on numbers. For example if there is 0.5g of fat it will round it up to 1 on the app.

It's great! And yeah, it usually rounds up. I usually just let it. Also sometimes I find it does come up with something completely different than what I scanned, but that is rare.

I will definitely use the app more now than the computer for day to day tracking.
