Let's do some yoga!

I've been doing a ton of running, walking, and playing Kinect Sports on the Xbox (add in a few weights and that's a workout in itself!) so I've grown extremely tired and I'm afraid of pushing myself too hard.
I'd like to throw some yoga into the mix and -- as much as I adore my "Alive With Lilias" 80s vhs tapes -- I'd like to find some quality yoga videos (preferably on YouTube).
I'd like some beginner routines, but any yoga channels/video recommendations will be appreciated!

Do you have any idea how good downward dog feels after running, lifting, etc. Every other night it is my evening stretch--looking for you--your body will thank you for it.0

Sarah Beth Yoga

There are a bunch more, have fun :drinker:0 -
I like Rodney Yee. I have a couple of his videos. Power Yoga - total body and Power Yoga - strength and flexibility. Both are beginner style. I've also rented a couple from the library from him which I liked, but I don't recall the names.
I like them over others because he has a very soothing voice and soothing music and a nice scenic backdrop. I've run into a few where the person or the music is like nails on a chalkboard. Not what you want when trying to relax!0 -
Thank you everyone!! I never even thought about checking them out from the library! :laugh:0

Big Rodney Yee fan here. He has a couple of DVDs (produced through Gaiam) that have 5 workouts on them each. I LOVE these. I can do one or two, depending on how much time I have. One is called "AM Yoga for Your Week" and the other is just called "Daily Yoga". I never tire of these. Totally the $15 or whatever they are.0

Rodney Yee is gorgeous, both in body and in practice. He was a ballet dancer prior to being a yogi. Yoga Burn is a good challenge if you're newer to yoga but decently fit.
My go-to is Shiva Rea's Yoga Shakti. It's pretty comprehensive, so you can design your own workout based on whatever challenge you want that day. Everything from basic sun salutations to more advanced back bends and inversions.0 -
One of my favorite youtube channels is yogayak. There is also website with a ton of free videos: www.doyogawithme.com
If you want to try some live classes, look on groupon for discounts in your area. I was able to get 6 months of unlimited yoga for the price of a little over a month.0 -
awesome, I was about to post the same question and already found the answer here! thanks!0

I am trying to find some yoga that doesn't include a lot of downward facing dog and sun salutations.
I want to use yoga as a way to de-stress and open the areas that are stressed by the boot camp classes I do 2 0r 3 times a week, and any yoga routine that includes a lot of sun salutations and downward facing dogs actually makes the muscles behind my shoulders feel more fatigued than they were before I did yoga class. I tried that class for several weeks, but things really didn't improve much. Maybe it's the way my body is made, but even with modifications, that kind of a yoga routine isn't giving me what I want.0
