Taking care of yourself

I've noticed that I stopped taking care of myself when I was heavy.. None of my cute clothes fit anymore.. I felt so unatractive.. I figured what was the point in doing my hair.. Wearing makeup.. Jewelry.. None of it mattered to me anymore.. I quit trying..
Now I enjoy trying to look nice.. I enjoy shopping and getting ready for the day.. I take care of myself..
Any similar stories?

Yes! I would try to shield my self with baggy clothes, long sleeved shirts when I was heavier. Now with my new body and more confidence I have started to add in those things like you said. I wear makeup, nail polish, and just feel more comfortable in my own skin. I love the feeling of dressing up and going shopping now. This feeling is why it is so worth it to be healthy and in control of my life.0

I can totally relate. When I was overweight, I always figured there was no point in trying to look my best because it was never going to be good enough:( But that was the motivation I needed: looking my best. Now that I'm healthy, I LOVE getting all dressed up and being the best me that I can be0

It's crazy what nails, jewelry, and a cute hairdo will do for your confidence..0

Well, as much as I'm a 'girly-girl' at heart I find that I simply don't have the time or patience for make-up more often than not, haha. And neither one of my jobs allow jewelry so I've kind of gotten out of the habit of wearing it. But when I was at my highest weight, especially when I was unemployed, sometimes I'd go up to a week without showering! I definitely didn't take care of myself at all because I thought the same thing, what's the point.
How you groom yourself is definitely directly correlated to your self-confidence! And it's soooooo nice to not absolutely dread clothes-shopping any more, because I don't always have to look for the biggest size possible AND I can find things I actually look hot in!0
