I just bought a energy drink for the first time in months but just realized it has a crazy 60 something grams of sugar in its 500ml can if I drink it I'll still be well under my daily calorie intake but ill be well over my sugar intake would that be okay? will i gain fat? would it really be that bad?

I love rock star zero carb ones. The berry flavored0

Try making your own.
I make a smoothie and add dextrose powder. It gives me the lift that I would normally get from my sports drink.
Plus you can choose your own flavour0 -
wow that is a LOT of sugar!! :indifferent: almost like having some protein with a can of coke! lol0

so energy drinks are fine as long as they are sugar free?0

IIFYM
however, there is no way I'd waste that many calories out of my budget on liquid. SF all the way for me.
Or more frequently black coffee0 -

I suppose it depends how strict you are on your macros (carb, protein, fat). That's a lot of carbs haha. The time you drink it is important but since it's an energy drink I'd say most of the time you'll be alright lol. It's not like you're going to down one before bed. Carbing before a workout and immediately afterwards are popular methods of carb consumption. Especially sugar.
Lot's of better stuff for you though. This is all assuming he LIKES the taste guys. Zero carb energy drinks taste horrible to me so I don't drink them. If it is simply for energy I would suggest one of those 5 hour energy drinks.0 -

So ironic that they are called "energy" drinks when in truth they are "stimulant" drinks.
