ate junk, no exercise for a week. Scared. Help?:'(

Hello there. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

I'm 18 years old, a girl and I'm trying to lose some weight. I used to have anorexia but I have since recovered but I'm pretty overweight I think? Im 5'3 and 130 lbs.

I want to get back down to a healthy weight so for the past few weeks (a month or two), I have been eating like this -- Typical diet:

Breakfast: 1 apple, 1 egg

Lunch: a salad - Mix of a bit of lettuce, 3 types of fruits, sometimes a type of bean and carrots or cherry tomatoes or bell peppers.

I do enjoy my lunch a lot though.

Snack (it is actually part of my lunch but i have it as a snack instead): 2 slices of wholemeal bread (127kcal for 2 slices) with a cheese wedge (45kcal for a wedge)

Dinner: A bowl of vegetable broth with a bowl of stir fried vegetables and a bit of meat.

night snack if hungry: A fruit or two.

HOWEVER,

For the past week or so, I've been eating crap and snacking a whole lot on things that aren't exactly clean. I'm so upset with myself. Furthermore, I only ran for half an hour on monday and sunday. I used to do hockey (2 hours once a week), baseball training (4 hours twice a week) and run for half an hour twice a week but I did little exercise at week because of my finals.

Although I ate plenty of healthy wholesome foods like pure pumpkin soups, salads daily for lunch as usual, same dinners, but for my snack I'll have the cheese sandwich AND a granola bar (around 140 kcal). I feel like im eating way too much and I've also had unhealthy foods here and there: maybe a chocolate eclair twice last week and a bit of cake because it was my niece's birthday and I ate some white rice too. I feel so upset with myself and although it wasnt a binge of sorts I'm just sad that I had let myself go like that.

So my main point is: HOW DO I GET BACK TO EATING THE SAME AS I DID PREVIOUSLY??

PLEASE HELP!!

EDIT: On second thoughts I think I might be 5'2 not 5'3 haha oops. But I'm afraid that since I've been eating this little for a while now, I will gain weight once I increase my intake! :( I didnt seek a professionalfor recovery. I think I just recovered by myself because I saw how skinny I was. I used to be 79 lbs?

    1. 5'3 and 130lbs is not overweight.
    2. You aren't eating too much. Log all your food on here and see for yourself.
    3. Running 2 times this week is an accomplishment even if it's not as much as you normally do. Just get over it and do more exercise this week.

Please talk to the doctor or counselor or whoever helped you in your recovery from anorexia. I think you need help arranging your thoughts as much as you need help with your diet.

130 pounds is not technically over weight according to your bmi. I would be more concentrating on fitness rather than weight loss. Looking at what you are wanting to eat you are increasing which may be why you had the urge to eat rubbish for a week. Design a diet that will fulfil you with enough calories to improve your fitness

    This.

You won't find many, if anyone, on here who will advice that you do eat that little. Even with the 'binge' - sounds like you're not eating enough. Go and talk to someone honey, sounds like you could use some solid advice to get your mind back on track and feeling positive.

I hope you feel better soon :)

in bold... ignore that nonsense about "good" foods or "bad" foods or "healthy" foods or "unhealthy" foods.

that is disordered thinking that leads to eating disorder behavior and that's why i DESPISE the clean eating cultists on this site. not only is there no universal definition of "clean", but the whole is idea is premised on a false understanding of diet and nutrition.

food is fuel. that's all it is. if you meet your daily/weekly micronutrient and macronutrient requirements, it doesn't matter what food you eat in order to do so. approach your diet that way (IIFYM) and obsess over meeting your macros instead of feeling any guilt or shame about eating foods you want to eat.

weight loss is about how much food you eat. nutrition is about eating a diversity of foods to meet your nutritional needs.

Your typical diet doesn't sound like enough calories. Find out what your appropriate amount of calories is to maintain your weight and take a 10% deficit from it, if your doctor agrees that you do indeed need to lose some weight. It is important that you eat enough calories so that you get all the nutrition you need to be healthy. You can be doing damage that you don't know about by under-eating.

130lbs is a really good healthy weight for your height - you can try to improve your fitness but you do not need to lose any weight.

You just need to eat a healthy balanced diet - and to be perfectly honest it sounds like you're eating too little. Try adding a little bit of protein to your salads at lunch, and you may want to increase your carbohydrate level too (particularly if you want to exercise so much - you need carbs for energy!).

Also you're 18! You can eat junk every once in a while (provided it's not all the time), and it won't kill you. The key is not to be afraid of food - you don't want to live your life scared of chocolate or cake!

There are times when we all have a bit of chocolate or an extra glass of wine and that's ok. That's living. And particularly at your weight, there is literally no problem with that.

Bottom Line: Everything in moderation. Don't eat junk to excess. Don't diet to excess. Then you'll have a happy and healthy life.

It seems your typical diet is nowhere enough calories for a 18yo, to be honest.

From the sound of it, I think you were depriving yourself on your previous diet which has led to 'reactive' eating (NB: this is different to binging). Reactive eating happens when someone is eating a sub-optimal amount for what the body really needs.

You have reactively eaten eclairs/cake and rice because your body was deprived and undernourished.

Sort out the restriction and the deprivation and your reactive eating will stop.

Also I think you would benefit from speaking to a medical professional as it sounds like you have some disordered thinking about your body image and about food.
