Peanut butter

I follow several fitness people on Instagram and I see that wholenut peanut butter is very popular. I have never been a peanut butter eater, mostly because it's an American thing and not popular where I'm from, but also because I've thought it's very unhealthy. I've come to realize there are good variants and that it contains a lot of healthy stuff too. I see some eat banana slices with some of it on top after workouts.
If you DO eat wholenut peanut butter while on your diet, what type do you use? And how many calories is the skinniest version?

Thanks, it doesn't really look like real peanut butter though! I'm looking variants that aren't powder, but the more healthy options.0 -
You can get a brand called Meridian from Holland & Barrett which is literally just mashed up peanuts and is my favourite one by far. The natural oil settles at the top so you've gotta give it a good stir before you use it. Second would be the Whole Earth brand (available from most supermarkets) which has peanuts and palm oil in it.
You can't really get 'skinny' versions of pb unless you start adding other stuff in to it, which I don't think is healthier...and it doesn't taste as awesome! Less ingredients are better, in my opinion :-))0 -
Other than using PB2 in my protein shakes (and occasionally in my morning oats), I will ONLY eat natural peanut butter. My brand of choice is Smucker's Natural Peanut Butter - the only ingredient is peanuts. IMHO, peanuts should be the only ingredient in peanut butter - anything added is crap.0

Are you from the UK? Peanut butter IS popular here too...
Meridian is probably the best one for no added extras, Holland and Barrett do it off the shelf. Or online, you can get it in a 1kg tub for about £5-6 or this one is good too http://www.bulkpowders.co.uk/shop-by-category/foods/peanut-butter.html but isn't organic if thats important to you.
Or from general supermarkets, the best one is either Whole Earth which has salt added but no sugar or palm oil, or Peanut Butter & Co which is a US brand but I did see a range in a giant Sainsburys a few weeks ago. Apparently its REALLY smooth if thats your thing.
I am still working through my KG of meridian and I use PB2 (£7ish a jar) in smoothies.
PB2 can be mixed with water to make it into low fat peanut butter but its not the same.0 -
Would rather eat real peanut butter any day over PB2 or any fake stuff.
But usually eat chocolate. Lots of chocolate.0 -
If you have a fairly powerful blender you could make your own peanutbutter - blend peanuts. (maybe add some salt)
I feel like most peanutbutters are "whole nut peanutbutter", some of them just have added sugar and added salt and some have preservatives and stuff0
