Placebo...
A placebo (/pləˈsiboʊ/ plə-SEE-boh; Latin placēbō, "I shall please"[2] from placeō, "I please") is a simulated or otherwise medically ineffectual treatment for a disease or other medical condition intended to deceive the recipient. Sometimes patients given a placebo treatment will have a perceived or actual improvement in a medical condition, a phenomenon commonly called the placebo effect.
Judging by many responses here thought some of you people may be unfamiliar with this concept.

I thought placebo was the stuff babies are covered with after they come out of the woman at birth time. I thought it was nutritious and delicious stuff. Was I mistaken? I was planning to feast on it with some lemon juice and side of feta cheese!0 -
I think you are thinking of plantains. They look like bananas, but have a baby attached.0

No, Taunto. You are thinking of placentas. Totally different thing. A placebo is some sort of new technology that they use nowadays for making flatscreen televisions. That's why at those big shop places they have signs that say new! Placebo screen and some big number for the size of the screen that gets men excited.0

No, I think he was going for vernix. Or at least that's what newborns are covered in. They are followed on departure from the womb by the placenta.0 -

Are you thinking of Placebo Burress, the one who used to play for the Giants before shooting himself in the leg? Or Troy Pacebamalu, the Samoan guy who played at USC? :laugh:0 -
wasn't Placebo a distance relative of Bilbo and Frodo? He didn't do anything in the adventures, but people thought he did.0
