Horse and Mane (weird question)

has anyone ever tried this shampoo? It is said to give you stronger, longer hair, thicker hair.
I'm curious as to how well it works. I've already got thick hair, I just want it to grow faster.
I saw it yesterday in the shampoo aisle at target. there are directions for humans, and then separate directions for horses (hence the name).

I think it's called Mane & Tail. But either way, I tried it and didn't like it. It made my hair really dry, and I really didn't see a different in the thickness or the length. I just cut out all products for my hair that contained Sulfates and it started growing like crazy.

However, some people have had success using it. I guess it just depends! lol.

I've used it in the past and its not bad, to be honest now I use Matrix Biolage and its awesome. Yes its pricey but if you buy the big bottles then it lasts like 2 months so it makes it worth it.

I agree with the post above. I used it and it made my hair super dry.

I use the new Pantene Beautiful Lengths Shampoo and it works pretty well.

How fast your hair grows really depends on the type of hair you have, and I believe it's a bit genetic, too. However, if you take good care of your hair and it's healthy, you will notice it getting longer quicker!

This is because if it is healthy and taken are of you have less split ends breaking off so you are keeping all the length you have grown.

my hair grows faster then most people, but i'm a bit impatient I guess? I know lately I have no time/desire to do it so I just put it up in a messy bun 90% of the time.
I just want looooong hair, but I guess straightning it would be twice as annoying.

I've heard nothing but bad about Pantene....just my two cents worth. A co-worker who previously worked as a hair stylist once told me that Pantene contained formaldehyde. That was it for me. :noway:

Horse and Mane, has anyone ever tried this shampoo?

I hear it will enable you to have a great healthy looking ponytail. Don't forget to pick up a tin of Bag Balm to complete your farm experience in the shower.

Be careful with hair ties they can damage your hair and cause breakage. Use ones that don't pull or use Bobbie pins to secure your hair. It can also help to do an oil treatment once a week to keep the hair protected. You can't change how fast your hair grows but you can change how fast it breaks.

I think it smells like *kitten*. Start taking prenatal vitamins. They're great for nails and hair. Supposedly Biotin is also great for hair growth, but I'd consult your doc before taking anything besides a regular multi.

I had a problem with hair that took forever to grow, and then it would be dry and brittle, breaking very easily. My fingernails were thin as tissue paper. I started taking Biotin (found in the vitamin/supplements aisle of any drugstore/grocery/whatever) and it has worked wonders!! I've been taking it religiously for about two months and it seems like I get compliments every other day about how fast my hair has grown and how long it's getting and how healthy it's looking. I know you were asking about a shampoo, if length and strength is your concern, I recommend Biotin.

pantene makes hair grow faster? really?

I don't know about making it grow faster per say, but it supposedly helps repair split ends and damage to help it grow. (It's a brand new product they just put out on the shelves a few months ago. It's the white and pink bottles.) I used it for 2 months before I got married because I didn't want to have my hair cut and trimmed so it could be as long as possible for great curls and it worked out better than I expected it to.

This is just from my experience though. Every one has a different hair type and not 1 shampoo is meant for everyone and will have the same effect.

Taking multivitamins and eating a high protein diet may also help.

I used to use it, made my hair oily so I stopped, but about a year ago I read online that women should wash their hair every day, so now I wash mine every other day (dry shampoo on days it doesnt get washed) and that has really helped my hair. In 2011 I had shoulder length hair, now it almost touches my *kitten*, and it is so much healthier.

I'm a cosmetic chemist that works for a hair company. Like others said- nothing can make your hair "grow faster"- it just looks longer (& healthier) if your ends aren't splitting.
Mane & tail has "hydrolyzed collagen" which is essentially proteins chopped up. They can fill in the holes caused by hair damage, which will make your hair stronger. Since you said that you straighten your hair- know that adding heat is causing more damage. Use a thermal protector which will reduce the amount of damage you're doing- and use your straightener on as low of a setting as you can while still getting the results you want. (don't repeatedly go over the same hair to get the effect, you should only go over it once)
Numerous shampoos now have proteins added- many from wheat, silk, rice, etc. I think Mane & Tail collagen uses animal proteins (though I don't know that for sure!). In my experience, although people are more weary of animal proteins- they work better as fillers than those from plants.

nothing you put on your hair will change the substance of it. it may make it feel thicker or more whatever, but will not CHANGE things, only the feel of things. Healthy eating will help your hair. Some supplements that you can take may change your hair.

Look at the ingredients on your shampoo. The first listed usually make up the most of the product and in most generic shampoo and conditioners, alcohol is one of the top ingredients. Alcohol is going to dry out your hair.

It's really worth it to buy the more expensive stuff. To save some money, I usually go to Sally's and buy large 1 Liter bottles of something good. I like their version of Biolage. It's usually $15/ liter but will run 'buy one get one free' from time to time.
