Hi all, I'm having trouble losing weight. I need support! I work out 3 days a week for an hour and I either gain or stay the same. Any advise out there?

How long has it been since you saw a drop on the scale and how often are you weighing? Are you weighing/measuring your food?
First thing I'd check is to make sure you're not underestimating your food. It's easy to add a few calories here and a few calories there if you're eyeballing your portions until suddenly you're eating at maintenance when you think you're in a deficit.
If you're eating at a caloric deficit then any gain you see should just be normal fluctuations in your water weight. Sodium, stress, hormones, TOM, exercise can all cause us to retain a little extra water for a few days. That's why it's so often recommended to only weigh yourself once a week, first thing in the morning when you're at your lightest.0 -
Hi!
I know first hand this journey is not easy, but hey - what's easy in life that's 'worth' having? I've lost 30 lbs to date, but I have 50 more to go... Some lifestyle changes that seem to be working: I eat breakfast every day, I consume at least 8-10 glasses of water every day, I listen to my stomach (not my mind) when eating meals...and I finish when I 'feel' full, not when my food is gone, I try to walk a few miles a week, cut grass, and do anything to make me sweat. Also, I have eliminated most junk food and try my hardest to avoid eating between meals.
My doctor had mentioned that for any person to reach their ideal weight, they need to cut caloric intake and exercise. You're probably thinking, well duh. lol. However, the dr recommends women consume 1500-1800 calories every day & men 1800-2100. Also, to be active 30 mins a day, 5 days each week - that is the goal to work towards.
I know weight loss can be frustrating at best, and can seem like it's going no where from time-to-time, but you cannot stop. When you stop, that's when you may pick up some of those bad old habits again....at least that's how it is for me.
Keep in mind that if you are exercising and not seeing results, it could be that you're gaining muscle (which weighs more than fat).
Keep up the good work; you CAN DO this!!
Feel free to add me...I'm new to this site. :-)0
