I'm 20 yrs old and weight 163lbs.
I'm 5ft8in.
I keep getting told by family and friends I look like I should weight less than that. I have to explain that I have more muscle than fat and it takes up less room but weighs more.
GRR! I've been getting this for tooo long...what should I add in to start cutting some major fat! PLEASE HELP!!

Cardio is the best to loose weight, you may want to change it up and try HIIT training, which is a form of cardio that burns the maximum amount of calories. Google HIIT and you can get an idea, I perform HIIT on a treadmill but can be done outside or with any piece of cardio equipment.
On a side note, I see your goal weight is 128, that is quite low at 5'8 with a large portion of muscle. From what I have found through my research the ideal weight for a woman is 100 lbs at 5' and 5 lbs per inch after that, which at 5'8" that would put you at 140, and by looking at your picture if that is you at 163, I don't think you even need to get that low. Maybe aim for 145, then re-evaluate. But I can tell you 128 is too light unless you burn off a lot of your muscle as well (muscle is a good thing)
Good luck.0 -
I think you should cut out these people that keep commenting on your weight! You're 5'8"? If that's you in your picture, you look fab, tell them to zip it. Or just flex your muscles and come up with something witty to say, sport an Arnold Shwartzenager accent. I'd take your abs in a second over mine! LOL.
Now that I think about it, I've never discussed my "weight" with anyone, why do people keep talking to you about your weight?0 -
Girl I have always gotten that and I am also 5'8"
I think it is the bone density, muscle mass, etc that causes the weight to be higher than you would expect. Don't get caught up on the numbers, you look GREAT! Keep doing what makes you feel good, and treating your body right. PLUS I think it's better for people to say, "Dang, I thought you weighed 140!" than for people to say, "DANG I thought you weight 180!" AM I RIGHT? haha0 -

Weight is a big issue with my family. My moms side is tall blonde and beautiful. And model thin...but my dads side is thicker. I've been battling my whole life with this...0 -

LOL. Im glad Im not the only one who gets that!!0 -
Wait one stinkin' minute! I presume your picture is current?? I'd pay money to look like that!
It is NOT about the numbers, it is about being at a healthy weight and being fit. At 5'8" and 168 you are just BARELY into the overweight section on BMI, and that does not take muscle mass into consideration.
People are nuts. I look back at pictures from my youth (when my entire family was telling me I was fat) and realize that I wasn't. I was a dancer and had very muscular legs (no, I was never built like a professional dancer--legs are too short). But I BELIEVED them in the core of my being and therefore lies the start of my problem. Do NOT let anyone do that to you. You have a beautiful body. Now believe it.0 -
I'm 5'8'' and have a goal of getting down to the weight you are. I felt hot at that weight. It's not that we are really tall girls, but we are taller than most. Getting down to 130 may be considered big by someone who is 5'4'', but I think it is way too small for someone our height. When people say you don't look that weight it's because they really don't know anything about height and weight ratios.0

Sorry I was just noticing your goal weight and your picture... you look pretty good to me.. I don't know if its possible to get down to 128 especially if you're muscular... You're 5'8''???..... Is that weight healthy for your height? From what i've seen, ideal body weight for a woman of that height is around 150..
Just saying, don't stress yourself out trying to get rail thin! be healthy!
and ps- I am 5'4'' and weight 128-130.. I wear 4-6.. Im only trying to lose a few more pounds... I know everyone carries weight differently.. and I think im pretty muscular too ..... just be safe!0 -
You LOOK GREAT!!! Don't listen to them if anything take it as a compliment because you know more about your body that anyone else. I think 130 is to skinny for your body type. I've been told not to go by how much you weigh but go by how much body fat you have and that women should have 24%-17% body fat. Check your body fat and if it is where it is suppose to be your in GREAT shape. To be considered ATHLETE it is 14%-20% FITNESS is 12%-24%.0
