Advice needed on long run training

Hi all
I am attempting my first half marathon, two weeks on Sunday and am hoping to get near 2hrs 30. As I am new to running, I started last November, I have been making it up as go along as far as training is concerned. Recently I have been doing a long run on Sundays and shorter runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Last Sunday I managed 10 miles in 1hr 54. I have read that if you run 10 miles in training you can certainly do the 13.1 in the race. My 2 shorter runs are about 4 miles and I am running a bit faster on those. My question is for the next 2 Sundays should I ease back on the distance or should I keep pushing to the end? Any advice apreciated.

Two weeks out a 10 mi long run (or 2 hr) would be good. One week out I would cut that in half to ensure you are fully recovered before the race.0

Thanks for that0

You have to know how quickly you recover. Some people can do race effort/distance this weekend then actually race next weekend and be fine. Some people can't. If you're unsure, err on the side of caution. 2 weeks out you should be fine, next week you'll have to think a little more strategically.0

Good point, at my age 64, I don't recover too fast, I'll take it steady.0
