need help understanding my ounces on a digital scale

Hi everyone. I've got a silly question that is just testing my math skills.
So I know that there are 16 ounces in a pound. On my new digital bathroom scale (which measures every 2 ounces) it states the weight like this; 170.2, 170.4, 170.6, and 170.8.

So the other day I weighed in at 170, then the next day I measured and I was at 169.8 At first I was like yay, a half a pound loss (since 8 oz is half a pound). But when I entered my weight onto my weight recorder phone app it showed that I had a 2 ounce loss. Actually it specifically said -0.2 loss.
That's when I realized that I never saw anything over 8 ounces on my scale.

So what am I missing here. I tried researching online first but got no info about this.

    I would come to believe your scale measures a pound up to 1.0. Your scale isn't going to measure in 16oz increments. A half pound would be .5

    OP Tonyrocks is correct.

    Just remember that 0.5 will be half a pound and 0.2 will be just below a quarter of a pound and 0.7 just below three-quarters of a pound.

    If you don't understand it, maybe you should get a scale that only measures in half-pound increments to avoid confusion.

    0.4-= 6.4 oz
    0.6= 9.6 oz.
    0.8= 12.8 oz.

    Half a pound (0.5) is 8 oz.
    A quarter pound (0.25) is 4 oz.

    This may be true but your scale is NOT measuring ounces, it's measuring in pounds.

    Thanks everyone, as soon as I saw the post about the scale measuring 1/10th of a pound it clicked in my head. Really appreciate the clarification. =)

    Water weight fluctuates so much that really its always plus or minus 3-4 lb ...

    My Weightwatchers digital scale is set to stones and lbs. It also shows fractions in 1/8ths. Last weeks weigh in read
    12 stone 4 3/8th lbs. I have no idea about the eighths........does anyone?

    Not all scales. Mine only measures in half-pound increments (either whole pounds of xxx.5 for a half pound).

    More math. Every 8th of a pound is 2 ounces.

    1 lb = 16 oz
    Divide both by 8 to get:
    1/8 lb = 2 oz.

    Therefore, 3/8 lb would be 6 ounces. Or just divide 3/8 and you get 0.375 lbs.

    Having trouble with the quote function.
    Just wanted to point out that “stone” ISN’T metric. It’s UK imperial.
    1st = 14lb

    (Also just to really mess with your head, there are 20 fl oz in a pint over here!)

    I had the same question so it's helped me :) mine only goes .1-9 before dropping or lowering to the next stone bracket and I always wonder why I never saw .10 or higher. Now I know that 1lb is = .10 on my scale
