SO, I recently got my fitbit, and I have been tracking my sleep. It says I have a sleep efficiency of 91%. Is that low? What are your percentages?
The reason why I am worried is bc my dad has sleep Apnea.

Mine says 95%. I get up a lot to pee too, but I am in bed at 8pm lol.0

I have a 9 month old that I get up once to nurse. But generally I am not getting up to pee:)0

My sleep efficiency is usually around 98%. I'm a really deep sleeper and I actually think that it measures movement rather than sleep. I know it says that I usually fall asleep within 6 minutes and I know that I'm awake longer than that, I'm just really still. We have a king size Select Comfort bed and it's so comfy that I hardly ever move.
It sometimes says I wake up and I really don't remember it.
Do you feel rested after a night of sleep?0 -
Not usually, I use to be on trazadone to help me sleep, but when I got pregnant my doctor took me off of them:) I am still nursing so I haven't started taking them again. I am starting a full time job soon though, so I might need to start taking them to get through my days.0

Mine can be anywhere between 90% & 98%. It only tracks movement, nothing else. I get really sore at night, so I roll over about once an hour. I also am really still when I go to bed, so it often shows that I've fallen asleep when I haven't. (I wish we had the control to "help" it decipher our movements better.)
If you're worried about sleep apnea, look at your movement patterns during sleep. Many people with sleep apnea move at the end of an episode. Is your movement erratic? Is it regular? Is it accounted for? If you're seeing something that worries you, print off your logs or a report and see your doctor. )0 -
I am usually between 97 - 98 %. I have not been outside of that yet. I usually fall asleep in 2-5 min.0

I recently read some info on sleep patterns and the idea of sleeping continuously for 8 hours straight is relatively new, as in only became common in the mid 1800's. Prior to then and prehistorically, humans generally slept in two, 3-5 hour segments known as the first and second sleep.
I thought this was really interesting because I usually go to bed at 10-11pm and always wake up between 2-3am. Since thinking about it as my first and second sleep, I have been much less stressed out about it which has lead to better sleeping during my segments.
It's totally normal to wake up in the night and totally ok to use that time. I'm not super active but I will read, get on the 'puter, have some tea and a snack, or write in my journal. Sometimes I just lay in bed quite and day dream.0 -

I don't generally "wake up" and do things. What I usually do is wake up, look at the clock, and go back to sleep. I have taken the clock out of my room so I don't have a clock to look at. But I think I still generally wake up like that.0 -
I guess I am bumping an old topic, but I wanted to chime in.
My sleep has ranged from 95% to 99%. I have been using my Fitbit for about a year now. I can tell you there is a world of difference between 95% and 99%.
When I sleep at 99% I wake up feeling really rested and ready to go.
When I sleep at 95% I am still tired and I want to take a nap when I get home. When I am sleeping at 95% my wife says I am snoring a lot.
I only sleep at 99% when I exercising pretty well. 10,000 steps doesn't do it. I think it takes about 15,000 steps to get me to that 99% level.0 -
according to my bodymedia I avg 80-85 and 6hours i always feel rested. a few days I get as much as 7, once I got 94%.0

I toss & turn a lot therefore I wake up a lot, so my efficiency is at about 70%.0

Hey thanks guys. I know it's been a few years now, I was recently diagnosed with Sleep apnea. Now I'm getting better sleep and have a lot of more energy!0

It's not an accurate measure sleep. My experience: Between my dog needing to pee twice a night and our cats scratching at doors, I'm up or awake multiple times per night. My husband NEVER hears any of it... but he because he tosses more than I do, he'll have a lower percentage than me and complain that he's not getting enough sleep. Kind of obnoxious. I stopped tracking it.
Moral of the story, don't trust it.0 -

I don't know. Sounds accurate to me.
You wake up because of pets a few times and say get 85%.
Your husband tosses and turns all night and gets 75%.
It's meant to be a measure of efficiency isn't it? Is tossing and turning a sign of good quality deep sleep? Sounds like your husband might sleep through the night but not as deeply while you sleep with a few gaps but get a much deeper/quality sleep.0
