Hello all,
I am new to myfitnesspal and I have been reading about people using HRMs to track calories burned and I'm wondering how that all works? Are there specific ones that are used that synce with the myfitness app or do you just calculate the calories burned and then manually imput them into your daily "diary?" Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

I bought a MIO Drive. It doesn't synch up. It is a watch. $60, Canadian Tire.
I just go to ADD EXERCISE and then label it HRM, and enter the calories it calculated.0 -
I think there are some that sync with MPF, but mine (Polar FT60) at least does not. I just manually input my time and calories after each workout. No calculations needed really, my HRM has a little summary screen and I just copy the numbers into the tracker here.0

There's no need to calculate anything. The point of the HRM is that it calculates it for you. So you just log the exercise like you normally would (Exercise tab > Add Exercise > Search for whatever), type in the time - it pops up with MFP's calorie count for that activity. You just delete that number and put in whatever your HRM said you burned.0

I have a polar HRM and it sync to my computer, but not to MFP. What I do is go under the exercise tab create my cardio exercise and put in the time and calories burned. I put all my exercise in as cardio even though some is weight training. It's just easier for me and all I really care about are the calories burned.0

I just use the numbers from the HRM and enter them in my exercise diary. I like to be as accurate as possible, and my exercise tends to be low intensity over long periods (hours walking, for example). MFP factors in your BMR, but HRMs don't - at least mine doesn't - so I reduce the HRM calorie figure to reflect that. I.e. my BMR burn is roughly 60 cals per hour, so say I've walked for three hours and the HRM says I've burnt 700 calories, I deduct 180 off that then put the reduced figure into MFP.0

I have a Polar but it doesn't sync. I just manually put in my calories.0

I just got the Fitbit Flex and it connects with MFP. and adjusts your calories. I have only had it a couple of days and it adjusts according to my steps but I am not sure about an actual workout yet.0
