Instead of eating a Hamburger Patty I found a nice recipe with Portobello Mushroom in my bun. Fixed it for dinner tonight. Yummy! The huge mushroom is very filling and has only 30 cal.

I've used a portabello as a pizza crust and it is delicious. Dig out the gills, dump in some pasta sauce where the gills were (not too much or it will get soupy), sprinkle a bit of low fat mozarella cheese and grill it. I've also put grilled chicken on top for protein.

I recently saw a recipe for the opposite -- using portobellos as the buns with a burger inside! Looked DELICIOUS (albeit a bit messy)!

I love using it as a bun. It makes a good mini pizza crust, too!

It was a little messy to eat it with the hands. I stuffed my Burger with Avocado, roasted Pepper, roasted Onion and light Mayo and that thing tried to slip away, lol. So I ended up eating with knife and fork. But it was soooo good.

I use them a lot as a bowl for things like Bolognese or ratatouille. They make a tiny amount of sauce look and feel like a substantial portion.

On a desperate day I even stuff portabello with a mushroom, laughing cow blue cheese and shallot mixture.

    Hooray for such a tasty.veg.

I always season with pepper, salt and a healthy grating of fresh nutmeg. Thyme also works really well.

I do them often for lunch, I dry fry them with some herbs and spices, add a little vege stock and cover until they go all soft and the stock thickens like a sauce- totally yummy.

I like them a lot. I have them at home and order them at restaurants.
