Vegetarian needs help

I really need some help. I used to weigh 275 pounds and got down to 160 on the Atkins diet. After I lost the weight I got salmonella poising and for 2 years now the thought of meat makes me sick to my stomach so essentially I have become a vegetarian. Unfortunately and to my surprise I am gaining weight like a sumo wrestler. Does anyone have any tips to going on a diet to lose 20 lbs on a vegetarian plan. Thanks and hugs to the fitness pal community.

It's really about counting calories and watching your macros. Can you give us a sample of what you are eating currently or open your diary?

On your food diary a macro is a nutrient group like Protein, Carbs, Sodium, ect....

Eat a larger portion of your foods from vegetables, then fruits, then whole grains. Stay away from processed vegetarian stuff-- like the fake "meat."

It's also quite possible that the weight gain came back when you started eating carbohydrates again (that why the Atkins diet usually isn't good for long term, it's not sustainable)

I cook vegetarian meals from recipes most of the time. This saves me from needing to be creative in the kitchen! The key is to eat mostly vegetables and whole grains. It's possible to be vegetarian and unhealthy if you eat mostly simple carbs and processed foods, so don't do that.

Thanks, I am trying to figure out to open my diary. If you could take a look, I would really appreciate it.
