Eating too little??

Im 18 weigh around 102-103, and am 5'1.5" tall. I do some running; 8-12 miles a week. MFP gives my 1525 calories a day. According to some other websites my BMR is 1280 however lately i have only been eating between 1050-1200 calories per day. Should I be eating 1280 minimum? What happens if i eat less/more than my BMR??

Thanks!!

At your height, weight and age, you should be eating what you need to maintain.
You do not need to lose more weight, and you do not want to bugger up your metabolism at such a young age.
  • So 1280 (my bmr) is what I should eat? And if I burn calories do I eat any back( from running)?? I appreciate the replies!!!

Why are you trying to lose weight? Eat 1800 calories daily (your TDEE with 3-5 hours of moderate activity) and lift weights for 4 hours a week. I guarantee you'll enjoy the results.
  • Not trying to lose weight- just maintain my fitness. Still a bit confused though!

What is your "goal" set to in the "settings" link up above^^? Make sure it is set to "Maintain my weight" and then you're supposed to eat those calories plus log your exercise and eat those back. Your BMR is the number of calories you burn if you were comatose. Everything you do burns additional calories... then you exercise too. See? Your actual intake should be closer to 1700-1800 probably.
  • Im honestly full at 1200 calories. Should i really eat so many more? I dont want to gain weight!! take today for example-I burned around 270 calories in my workout (according to heart rate monitor and calorie burning monitor) but consumed a 1215 calories today=net of 945...I just want to maintain my 102 pounds and maybe add some muscle, not a ton.
  • just bumping this in hopes for some answers/ideas!!
