Woman on a Mission

Whenever I describe my weight loss journey as a mission most people laugh, but for me a mission is exactly what it is. Coming from a family where food is love, and eating is actively encouraged even if you're full, I find changing to a healthy diet while living in the home exceptionally difficult; it's not just my attitude that has to change, but I need to help my family change their attitudes too, if not towards their own habits then towards my own.
At present I'm 215lbs, with a goal ranging between 116-150lbs. I'm not too fussed about my goal weight, I just want to implement healthy choices and see how my body reacts; I'll probably change my mind if I start getting towards the higher goal. We'll see how things work out .
I joined MFP purely because I know I won't attend in person group meetings, support from my family is non-existent and an internet forum I can procrastinate on inbetween revising for exams seems lovely.

When I originally started my diet and exercise program (before my account) I was about 212 and now I am down to 160 and had a similar goal weight as you do! I know exactly what you mean when you say that your family has poor eating habits. I refer to my family as strict members of the "clean plate club." Good luck and remember to stick towards a healthy lifestyle and the best of luck to you in promoting these changes in your family as well!0

I'm 40's and have been eating clean, running for two months and working out with a trainer for one month. No weight loss yet, and clothes are not looser. I feel better but would really like to see the pounds come off 185 and 5'4 and would like to get to 140. my doctor said no to fat burners and diet cleansing pills.0

I thought about a in person group but my schedule doesn't allow it ATM.
I have been exercising pretty much since January with a 5 week break due to injury. I am back on the wagon.0
